First post, owned a 1997 S1 since January. This site ("Wet Boot", topic now closed) tells me these S1s sometimes came fitted with drain pipes in the boot, fitted to the round drainage hole in the boot gutter. Mine just floods because it's got no drain pipe and, crucially, I can't figure out the correct exit route for a bodge-job pipe. Could anyone share a photo of the proper drainage pipe in situ? Much appreciated!

I know where it goes on a bootbox car, but suspect you have a bootbag?  I think it still goes to the drivers side wheel arch, presumably clipped to something?

Many thanks Lithopsian and Jonathan E for the quick replies. I'll go ahead and bodge something that goes out under the rear right indicator. Just for completion I'm attaching three pictures. I'm presuming this is a "bootbag" kind of boot, just bare riveted aluminium. Here's to a dry Autumn!

Well, this is the only Elise I've ever seen inside the boot of, so I assumed everything was normal and factory-spec in there -- at least, until it started filling up with water. The latch works, at least, but I don't know if it's had a tough life before I got the keys!

No bag?  On this type of boot, there should be a rectangular bag about the size of the alloy plate.  It is a bit of a make-shift solution to not having a solid formed boot, but better than stuff rolling out into the wheel arches or worse.

Oh yes, you're right, the seller did include a large bag with the folding roof parts in it. I thought it was just the "official roof bag" and didn't know it was technically a boot-bag so I've been keeping it in the garage. It can go back in the boot now where it belongs. Thanks for the info.

You'll find that the roof bars don't fit in the bootbag when it is clipped into the boot opening.  In the early S1 models they were supposed to be stored behind the seats inside the cabin.  There are holes next to the speakers that they can be clipped into, although not easily.

There should also be an official roof bag, for the side rails and the soft top itself.  It is black, leather-ish, long, and thin.  Tight fit to actually get the roof in it.  I've only ever used mine to see if the roof would actually fit in it, far too much effort for everyday use.
