Mrs TT engine has had it so we need it rebuilt or replaced. Anyone know of a specialist or a local source of a replacement engine?

You could try GAV @ Unit 4 . He is a specialist at most things automotive .. if he can’t help I am sure he will know somebody

hope this helps

I’d second this advice plus he’d tell you which was the most economical way to proceed. The bottom line is you can trust him!

What’s wrong with current engine?

For everything VAG related, from my Lupo to my RS2 I've taken to MidlandVW in Cannock for the last 10 years, and they've been great. I'm sure they could help with it.

Have you still got the RS2? One of my dream cars. I had an S2 Avant years ago as couldn't afford the RS2. Tuned to 280hp, RS2 arbs, big brakes, cup wheels etc. Loved it. Sold it to buy a 340R

Unfortunately not :( I sold it in 2012 - for the grand sum of £9800, back before cars went mental in the pricing....I bought it to replace my S1 Exige!

It went like absolute stink, it'd been tweaked to 360-370bhp, boost came on like a tidal wave. It was a proper event to drive, and as an object/collectable I loved it - all the little Porsche details, the granite-like build quality, the noise....awesome. However, it wasn't much fun to actually drive. It needed better tyres and complete suspension refresh IMO as it was on crappy dampers @163k miles.

Mine was the press car "M120 MJB" which can be seen all over. I sold it to a guy in Scotland, and it's either been written off or exported, as it's not been MOT'd in many years :( :( :(

Such a cool car. First of the proper fast estates.

My S2 was really nice to drive. Mind you it had konis, RS2 arbs and less than 40k from new.

The build quality really was amazing. Early 90s German stuff was built to last, not built by accountants looking to save money at every opportunity.
