lummo
This summer a group of us from work, plus various other friends and family (including my wife), are undertaking an ‘Ultra Challenge’ in order to raise money for various charities. So I’m after your money please: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/PCMS_IT_Crowd “What is an Ultra Challenge?” I hear you ask. An Ultra Challenge is a 100km (62 mile) walk/jog/run. The intention is to complete it in around 24 hours. We have two teams, attempting two different challenges: The Cotswold Way Ultra Challenge at the end of June (the one I’m doing) and the Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge in the middle of July. We are raising money for five different charities, which are: 1. The John Taylor Hospice, which provides specialist care for people in Birmingham, Solihull and the West Midlands who are living with a terminal illness. 2. The Hypermobility Syndromes Association. The HMSA is the only charity offering both practical support and health and care information to people who have a hypermobility syndrome – one of our Team Members has a daughter with this condition. 3. Bloodwise, formerly Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, which is an established UK cancer charity that has been beating blood cancers since 1960. 4. Cancer Research UK. As the world's largest independent cancer research charity it conducts research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease. 5. Midlands Air Ambulance. The role of the charity is the provision of Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) in the Midland Counties of England, responding to 2,000 potentially life-saving missions every year. All money donated through our Virgin Money Giving page will be shared between these 5 charities. The company I work for – PCMS – has kindly agreed to pay the entrance fee for all its employees taking part in the event (worth £185 per person). The challenge itself involves setting off early on the morning of Saturday June 30th. We start at the Royal Crescent in Bath and walk all day Saturday, all through Saturday night and finish up sometime on Sunday in Cheltenham. We are mostly, but not exclusively, following the route of the Cotswolds Way. In all it is 100 km (plus the walk to the start from our hotel in Bath, and the walk from the finish to Cheltenham railway station!!!). Please give generously – we’ve been training hard all year for this (nearly 500 training miles so far…). THANK YOU! https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/PCMS_IT_Crowd

When we started our training we were rattling off 10 miles on a Sunday morning and back in time for lunch. Now we're up in the 30+ mile range it's a whole different story: Up at 6, start walking by 7:30, walk for 12 hours solid then drive back home for around 8pm, totally knackered. And that's only half-distance! 14 hours ago, jonnyfox said: Done Thanks John. You're a poet and I didn't know it.
lummo
Less than two weeks to go until our 100km (62 mile) charity walk. We've been training really hard all year for this (over 600 miles walked so far just in training). We're raising money for some very good causes, so please donate generously. Many thanks to those who have donated so far, but we need lots more donations!!!! https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-display/showROFundraiserPage?userUrl=PCMS_IT_Crowd&pageUrl=
