Well, I’ve been onto my insurance and they believe it’s the 3rd party fault. They’ve also given the go ahead to choose my own specialist, and I think I’m going with Option 1. I chatted to Frank this morning, so hope it can get sorted quickly.

Thank you all for your advice and help, it’s starting to feel a bit less galling.

Cheers,

Kurt

That’s a real shame Kurt. Don’t allow the insurance company make the decisions that are really yours to make, such as accepting any  liability or not suing the third parties arse off if need be.  A buddy of mine always involved a solicitor straight away. I thought it was an odd thing to do, but now, after a bit of bad experience, I think he was right.

Kurt it sounds like your insurance company are backing you so far, but if you do run in to any of these problems give me a shout.

By the grace of God go I.  Just been out to the garage and given mine a hug.

It will be brilliant when you pick it up all shiny and new.

We have  a red L plate for learner.  and green P plate for Probationary :  Maybe there's a need for a compulsory high-viz 'DH' plate for those that do something 'that' stupid and cause an accident.    Might avoid many accidents if you spot the DH plate and have an opportunity to give a very wide birth to the DH driver?

Thank you all for your supportive words, and advice. I’ve fitted new toe link ends today, covered the damage in aluminium tape and noted further damage (rear longeron, exhaust cut out impacted by exhaust, filler cap eccentric in recess), but I’m not too concerned.

I texted the witness earlier to thank her for her cool calming manner and assisting me with what to do at the scene, and generally making sure I was OK. She really made me feel better.

She responded this evening and was glad that I was ok, thought the other driver made a reckless manoeuvre, and said I handled it very gentlemanly. I’m so glad I asked her to act as a witness, it’s heartwarming to know that she continues to be supportive and acknowledges my innocence.

It’s ready to go now, as soon as Option 1 can take it. I hope that day comes soon....

Every cloud Kurt.  Got to say mate, you've handled this superbly.  Fingers crossed for a quick turn around.  Junks has a few sets of brand new longerons.  I bought a second set as spares.  And speaking of spares if there is a part you need that I may have had manufactured, just holla buddy

Good news on the insurance Kurt..... Let me know on the wheel sticker what colour you need, Perhaps send me a close-up photo

Hi Andy,

I’ve tried without success to upload images, but the ones I have are light grey. Either that or a (preferably) a mid grey would be really good please.

Please let me know how to pay you via PM.

Thank you,

Kurt

You’re a good man Jonny, thank you. I’ve a custom undertray that clears my 2bular that got distorted in the collision, but I’ll see what the body shop say about that.

Honestly, the things I find as I look around it make quite a magnificent list of faults. It’s not going to be a five minute job fixing it.
