KurtB
Ooooh, that's a nasty paint scheme on that one Leigh. Are you doing anything on your tonight?!?
Dr H
Bugger all to do Kurt. 166 was scrapped on Thursday. Only bits I salvaged t try and sell are the seats, front brake calipers and the Sat Nav unit. Hopefully I can get about £300 for them. Time currently being spent trawling the net and finding very expensive bits I don't need! I found loads of tasty stuff trouble is with a limited market after-market Alfa stuff is expensive. Looking for a new gear knob at the minute

Dr H
That's a SELOCers old car isn't it? Don't think he has it any more.
KurtB
Look at those back tyres! They're massive! There's something a bit odd about that car, it just doesn't seem to sit right, but I can't quite put my finger on it. I could be wrong though. I still wouldn't say no... Dr H
Could be the profile of the tyres or the diameter of the wheels. Also think the wheels are same diameter front and rear as per the real Starts. The Lister is like the Lotus with bigger rear wheel diameter, and bigger diameter than the original overall. This is an original Nice video.
Dr H
OK.................this might get expensive.Just had a quote sent through for a set of bearings and oil seals to rebuild the gearbox. Remember that this is JUST the bearings (7 in total) and seals. Total of £616!!!!By the time I've added the LSD and the cost of the rebuilt itself that will be at least £1500. And that's only if nothing else is worn out. Dear God, this could bankrupt me.
KurtB
Clucking Bell! £616 for bearings?!!!!! Does the gearbox NEED such a comprehensive rebuild? I know you're a man for the tiniest detail Leigh, but surely the gearbox bearings that are in it will be in decent condition? At least you'll never need to do it again... Not even pulled it to bits yet (Dan Webster is going to do the rebuild). But with about 170k on it I think it would be foolish not to replace them. I hope to got the gears and syncros are all OK. One breaing is specific to the box and can't be bought from a normal bearing supplier. That's £150 +vat from a specialist, otherwise you have to buy the full input shaft from Alfa for about €900. I reckon all the others are just normal bearings. They want £110 for the 2 diff bearings but managed to get the number off those and I can get them for about £50 for the pair. Some hunting around is required I think.
Dr H
Erm....things might just have sped up a little bit. They've just contacted me to say they have a chassis that is available as the person who originally ordered it is still waiting for his garage to be built. They can get the full kit to me by the end of Jan
