frank7
OK, I've done some more digging. The phone number above takes you to Central Lotus who were very helpful and advised that the new franchise will be semi-operational in the next few weeks, although the official opening of phase 1 is scheduled for September. The plans are described as 'ambitious'. The address is Waterside Way which is in Colwick and phase 2 when completed will incorporate a 3 or 4 story building overlooking the racecourse. The entrance to the site will also be on the racecourse side. The aim, I understand, is to offer a full parts and service facility along with sales with a 'spectacular showroom' included. There was also a mention of a manufacturing or fabricating workshop, for example, making Kevlar panels and the like. As I'm led to believe MLOC members are likely to be invited to the opening. All this is simply what I've been told and is not corroborated but it seems that the plans are well advanced for the building and launch of something quite unique and rather special. Foggy
I spoke with one of the Directors on sunday at Chatsworth, they developed the land next to the racecourse and river into the apartments and have loads more land some of which they have workshops and run their racing team from, using Lotus Evoras so they had a close connection with Lotus and when there was an opportunity for a new dealership in the East Midlands they put in for it and got it. It is being developed next to their current facility. I think it is all hidden away behind fencing and gates at present but will be opening up shortly and being further developed as time goes on. frank7
I went along today to investigate and was fortunate enough to meet the owner of the facility whose brainchild this is - Kevin Riley. He owns the shed and lives close by. His plans are stunning.. without doubt this will be an amazing facility, probably without equal. The plans are well advanced for what will be a dealership of outstanding quality, an experience in itself that if all comes to pass will eclipse other comparable franchises by virtue of the fact that it will include so many innovative elements. Be prepared to be blown away when it opens later this year. There are different phases so it won't be fully complete for some time after it first opens which I understand is September. By the way, if you hadn't seen it look at Kevin Riley's crash at Assen on YouTube... phew!
