Receiving V5 Before The Car

The V5 arrived for my new car today, but the car is at least a week away!

 

TBH it's the first time I've personally bought a brand new car, is this normal?

Yep got mine before the car as well.

I can't remember. It was 2004 when we bought the Exige!

It does happen but when the car does arrive it will not have a tax disc, they come separately now (ours never turned up and had to get a replacement from the post office

The best thing about it is I received the V5 one day before the date of first registration

I have received a car before the date of registration, I had to promise not to drive it until the day though (I was good but very tempted not to be)

Lotus use the AFRL web (Automated First Registration) system here in the DVLA, speeds things up nicely for new buyers

My new car isn't a Lotus I'm guessing they are using the same system though.

yep most motor manufacturers use the AFRL system, i'm currently doing some work for DVLA for Iveco Italy for UK first registrations.
