New Cat

Hello

I have been told by Lotus that I need a new CAT for my 09 SC. The parts they have told me I need are:

Downpipe CAT assembly (part no: LB128S001F)
Exhaust O2 sensor (part no: LA117E6007F)

They are going charge me £1200 + labour to fix which is quite a bit.

Can someone offer me some advice on where I can get these without having to go through the dealer?

Thanks

Justin

You can only get the exact lotus items from lotus dealers or deroue but all will be the same price. Other option Is aftermarket now your out of warranty. Usually are higher quality or higher performance as well.

If your fairly practical you can fit them yourself (I did mine) or it's only a couple of hours work if you pay a local specialist to do it.

How come the dealer is saying it needs replacing anyway, has it failed mot?

I did a Car Limits day and then a few days later I was just driving coming back from hampshire and lost power on the M40. I'd get jolts of power (like a belt was slipping or so i thought). If I accelerated slowly I'd get up to speed and just cruising was fine but if a put my foot down just a little, nothing, kind of like it was in limp mode but I would get some power if I did it slowly.

I took it to a local garage who I trust and he plugged into the ecu and there were warnings on the CAT. He said that if he were to guess it would be the CAT. I then took it to Lotus who confirmed it was.

I took it for its MOT last month and it only just passed.

Yep agree just change sensor first. When I changed to the sports cat we looked inside and found that the factory one was pretty empty (it had all been blown out) and the car still drove fine (as they do for people with a decat pipe).
