elanplus2
I'm changing the gearbox oil at the moment and I'm hoping that it will make some improvement to the current transmission whine. I've got some Lucas oil treatment which according to claims can be used with gearboxes and needless to say the manufacturers list all sorts of benefits. Pinch of salt maybe but I was wondering if anyone has used this type of product with the K series? Lucas is American stuff so I've only been able to find opinions about it on US forums, duds with extreme opinions written in text speak. Any sensible English opinion on dealing with a noisy gearbox ? Recommended oil in this situation? I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks.
Martin R
When the PG1 was invented it was designed to run on 10w - 40 engine oil ( no really ) and be changed every 24K miles. Honda then came up with MTF 94 and it could be used for the life of the gearbox without changing. A lot of people swear by fully synthetic Motul. I have not tried it to help with a noisy gearbox though.
