S1 Handbrake Grip

I'm being real stupid!!

 

I'm trying to remove the centre console on my S1 elise, but I cannot work out how to remove the handbrake grip to allow me to pull the console up over the handbrake and out of the car.

A plastic on should just pull off. If its been replace by an ally on, there may be a small allen head screw underneath the grip. You may also still have trouble removing the console over the handbrake. If you remove the clevis pin on the quadrant under the middle undertray, this releases the handbrake cable and allows more upward movement of the handle.
