Steve G
So sorry to read about that Jon, that's terrible news.
jonnyfox
Your certainly are one dignified geezer Jon. It's a real shame about the car and I certainly hope in one way or another it'll work out for the best I'm sure.... Bank the cash, that's your toy money for later buddy ;-)
Guest
I must echo jonnyfox's first line. Written with dignity Jon but not easy to read! Not a good time, I hope for better for you.
JonS
Thank you all for the nice comments. It really means a lot to me, and it is a testament to this club that we have this great camaraderie and the good old stand by each other attitude. Greg & Ali, you guys are the champions of facing adversity, and it's times like this that you realise that other things are far more important. Priority recently has been to get L back to full health, and my car situation has just been a secondary nuisance. Now I am getting to the point of drawing a line under this we can start to move on. Jonny - thanks mate, What's the point in slagging off the culprit in all this - won't get the car back. I've tried to take as calm approach as I can with this, even when the mechanic didn't apologise to me throughout the whole 90 mins I was looking over the car afterwards. In other news - I've been car shopping today. Word of the day is Tangent.

You don't need to slag him off... but I wouldn't like to think of anyone else on here trusting him with their car. A postcode would help folks to avoid the place. Like we said weeks ago, you've been much calmer about this than we would have been. Much respect. Summer's coming, get yourself another car, and pronto! E&R. Alex B
Have to echo Elaine's comment you've been a lot calm than I would have been. As for the mechanic not apologising well that would have been the nail in the coffin for me. Hope you find something else to satisfy for track day needs and enjoy your dad's élan while you have it. Looks like a stunner. I known of a 111r for sale if you change your mind on getting another Elise.
Ladders
If you ever fancy a blast you can take mine out for a spin sometime Jon! Just make sure that you aim to get back into another Lotus or silly car sometime in the future! :-)
JonS
It's a non-Lotus specialist garage in Bognor Regis. Used (unbeknown to BMW) by Rolls Royce - like I said, his spray work and grp work were first class - but his driving skills, not so. He was a mate for about 5 years. Not now. Thanks for all the offers folks. I will no doubt love to take up some/all of them I'm sure you'll hear of me still lapping some UK/Euro tracks in the next toy, but it definitely isn't a Lotus. But, as someone once said... I'll be back! So, next? Well, pending an AA Vehicle Inspection, I may have bought the next car today...

Eric
Gosh Jon, I really feel for you after reading this. Hope you somehow manage to get yourself back into a Lotus seat in the not too distant future. All the best mate. Cheers, Eric
lummo
Jon - don't be a stranger round here, whatever the new toy is...?
JonS
Just a quick update, I've had an AA inspection done on a prospective new car, everything appears ok, and I should now be picking it up on Saturday. Not a Lotus, but still a different kind of fun. I also just want to say a huge thank you for all your messages. It is really quite overwhelming the amount of comments/emails/texts and phone calls I have had from my MLOC buddies on this whole debacle. It really encapsulates what this club is about for me, and makes me very proud to be part of it and its future development. It does however make it rather sore visiting here knowing I am no longer an owner. Hopefully the new toy will go some way to healing the wound. Hopefully the Bug will live on in one form or another - Leigh, you may well be staring at part of it whenever you're in you car! ;-) There is also possibly the chance of bigger plans for the car, but this remains to be finalised. Incidentally, the former friend who caused all this has not responded like he said he would and chosen not to give any form of goodwill compensation for the stress, hassle and incredible inconvenience that his irresponsible actions have caused. I have spent two months battling with his insurance company, seeking professional advice and fighting my own corner as the completely innocent party. He has not done a thing apart from crash my car and phone his insurers. And the whole lack of apology thing leaves me so angry I can't express it properly in words. So James Rowledge of Raw Autoworks, Bognor Regis is now named and shamed. Thanks for nothing.
