John FISH Curtis
Its a shame its gone but not expected. Leicester is not an ideal city for the brand, the dealership was messy being half a Triumph showroom. They never seemed to have a enough Lotus in stock, new or used and whenever I passed it was more of a run down used car pitch, where you couldn't see any Lotus. Robo Elise
I bought my Elise from them in Feb 2011. At that time they had quite a few used and new. Each time I went back for services the number of Lotus stock dwindled. Shame as the people who work there were excellent to deal with. I shall still take mine when it's ready for a service as I do believe they are still doing servicing. Both Ian & Mark are still there Hope John is still there as well. He's a great mechanic:-) Both Ian & Mark are still there Hope John is still there as well. He's a great mechanic:-)

C1RVY
Lotus must be doing something very wrong with all these dealers disappearing, it certainly can't be helping the brand. It's such a shame as the new cars are getting such good press. I'll be surprised if Nottm/Derby/Leics & Brum can't sustain a main dealer.
flibberflops
I think this has been on the cards for a while. Back in September I had the Exige serviced & MOT'ed there (and left it at Stratstone for a week). I asked Ian while it was there for a week if he could get Mark to look it over to see what he would offer me to buy it back. When I picked the car up, there was no mention of anything other than the service.
amoss
For several years Lotus new car sales have been falling to the very low levels we now have. This makes a dealership unsustainable in a very short time. In short - not enough of us have been buying new Lotus cars. The press still rave about the cars' performance and handling but always the focus on the downsides - low practicality and access being the most common complaints. p.s. Yes I know my car is 22 years old, but it is the last 2+2 Lotus made; mine can carry 4 grown ups - have you tried to get into the back of an Evora
Eric
Lotus sales were up this year, and if you just look at the percentages, they look very impressive indeed. But in terms of raw numbers, they are tiny and still down in the "hundreds". "Bring back Bahar" was my Lotus life tag line in the 2013 calendar and I think it's still valid given that what Lotus desperately needs is a brand new range of cars, designed from the ground up. P4N Lotus
Maybe it should be making 4x4, Mpvs, hatchbacks like porkers are doing. I watched something recently saying Porshe is only sustainable because of people buying the 4x4 versions and every day models. Guess that is why jags are moving into the 4x4 market too. Lotus is opening more dealers in Asia and the Middle East , more customers buying the cars out there media suggests

Yes I know my car is 22 years old, but it is the last 2+2 Lotus made; mine can carry 4 grown ups - have you tried to get into the back of an Evora We ordered a brand new one.......................................................................... in 2004! 22yrs old. That makes our current Lotus sound new, at a mere 18yrs of age. I don't think Daddy Roger will ever sell his Excel either, even though he's more of a biker nowadays since getting another Commando. E. EDIT: Actually, that might make an interesting poll. If you've ever bought a brand new Lotus, how many years ago was it? And will you be buying another new one in the near future. And both our cars were sourced from Peter Smith's. However Chris Cliff and Gavin Hussey (Unit 4) who worked there for years are still around and still look after my car. (Chris did the original PDI and has signed off all my MOTs.)
