Access Inside Side Sill Panel

Since my brother decided he wouldn't avoid hitting something on the motorway in my car, and that it punched through the front face of the grp side sill panel, is there any chance that if I remove the plastic grille that covers the air in-take behind the door (also blocked by the hurricane pipe) that I can reach in and get out what ever is sliding around inside there? Is this panel strengthened on the inside to prevent me front accessing the front of it?

The hole is at the front inside the wheel arch, and slides side to side around corners. I'm just wondering if there is any hope that it can be reached from the back, as the hole it has made sure isn't big enough to get my arm in! Are there any other access holes in this panel that doesn't involve its removal?

On mine there is a big block of expanded foam in the sill below the air intake. I presume its part of the side impact protection, but it would stop you getting your hand down there. I presume the Elise will be the same.

This is what I feared. Thanks Chris. I might have to get a mini camera and take up key hole surgery! lol

Pipes only I think.

If it needs repairing anyway, why not just make the hole bigger so you can get access? It won't significantly change the repair costs.

Edit

On the S1 can also remove the coin tray. If there's something similar you could try a magnetic stick or spring grabs.

I got one of these for my birthday - http://www.maplin.co.uk/handheld-video-optic-inspection-tool-with-lcd-display-and-recording-670614

It's a mad thing, and very clever. I've used it several times when in the "Lotus position" and for other fiddlings. It's surprisingly useful, even for rescuing sprog's toys from under the fridge. Not sure that's what you wanted to hear, but it's an excuse to get a gadget.

Good luck, and sorry about the car.
