At what cost thou ?

I left it until I was desperate, quick search ! Came accross a dealer in wigan with the correct size Yoko AD08 for the rear on ebay @ £119 a corner fitted, seemed very reasonable against camskills who wanted £117 + vat + delivery charge, and of course i'd still have to get them fitted.

So as saturday morning seemed a lovely a day for a drive and I know Scatty has these fitted (and he's happy with them jump.gif ) I set off to wigan, anyway 3 hours later and a 130 mile round trip, im back home and have two Ad08's and decide to go give them a quick test.

First thoughts they seem grippier but a lot harder ride with less feel than my worn ad07's.

Now I do some research and find out the Ad07 LTS (lotus tuned compound) is still available through lotus dealers.

Doh ! compress.gif Already I wish i'd payed the extra ££ and stuck with LTS AD07'S.

Any one else running 08's on the rear and what do you think of them ?

they are epic once run in, lots more grip than the ad07's.

but.....not very progressive...they stick and stick then stick some more, but when let let go theres not much warning.

i swopped to r888's, which nearly grip as much, but you can feel them starting to break giving more chance to back off or apply required opposite lock if your brave) when i wore my 08's out. as they are oem on the exige and previous owner had kept with them.

sure its just newness that makes them feel hard, i needed a good 100 mile before my 888's felt ok

Please tell me you haven't got different boots on the fronts....

I had to give Chris Lane a telling off about this.... It's a pet hate of mine.... Lol...

They should be good once you've scrubbed um in...I'm sure it won't take you long rich..... :-)

Hope so Rich, haven't had chance to really drive them yet. Jury is out at the mo.

Its not helped doing some research after and finding out what Lts compound is. Apparently it's a differently constructed tyre and lighter too designed for our cars ???

Scatty, the Yorkshireman in me can't bin the half worn ad07's on the front, and likewise I'm stuck with the new ones while they have tread left ! Like em or not !

I have a newish pair of AD08`s on the rear - done about 1500 miles on them and I cant really tell any difference - I took it easy for the first 250 ish miles to scrub them in, found some nice twisties in France last week and they seemed as good as the AD07`s I had previously.

Anyhow - I found this link over on Seloc - LTS AD07`s for 130 Euro, from a French company (found it the day after I got my AD08`s ) - a few people appear to have bought them and have said they are fine.

I swopped to AD08's when my 07's wore out, at first was unsure about them but once they were run in they just grip and grip. Not noticed anything about feel from them and as to a harder ride ? I paid the same as you 18 months ago so you got em at a good price, the extra Lotus charge is just lifting your leg.

In all I'm happy with them and would put them on again Still running 07 LTS on the front and will probably stick with them, although may consider AD08 in larger size.

Brooke Bond over on Norlog runs the same - rears AD08 and fronts AD07, track day last year he kept trying to get them to slide but couldnt :) :) He also does Autosolo driving and doesnt have a problem sliding it around then ( on different tyres :) ) I know other folks who have them and totally happy with them.

Ha ha ha, I forgot about your heritage.... Lol...

I wanted to keep one of the old ones. off side looked great when they took it off at least 2 mm of tread. Just couldn't ride home all that way with it on the passenger seat ;)

I have just stuck a new set of ad08s on the rear after wearing the ad07s completely out. I don't know why people seem to dislike having different Tyres on the rear to the front. Obviously different tyres on the same axle is stupid but it's as simple as having either more grip on the rear or less. I had ad07s all round and when the rears hit the wear markers the rear end would step out even on a nice hot day. Now I've stuck a new set of ad08s on the back the rear end grip has come Back and you can really give it some stick in to the corners without the rear moving around. Point being that a fresh set is better than an old set that's the same as the fronts.

I personally think the ad08s appear to have a bit more grip than I can remember the lts ad07s having but they had completely lost all grip over the last 500-1000 miles of life so it's hard to tell for sure. I've also found that the ride feels better, but again I had worn them past the markers before I changed them.

Thanks for your comments chaps.

It's not that the 07's were that grippy but I was really happy with how the car felt.. Not so sure now.

Might not be as keen to keep pace with Dean for a while... Lol

I just thought... Have you checked the tyre pressure that the fitters have put in? I asked the guy to put 24psi in my rear tyres but they just stuck in whatever they wanted. This might effect ride???

Tyre pressures make a massive difference as I discovered last weekend.

Car was all over the place until I sorted it - really thought it was something more serious for a while.

Good first place to start that's for sure.
