Gary ZBJ Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 I have mintex 1144s, seem a really good road pad, no squeeling at all for me. Ditto on the never leave it parked in the garage with the handbrake on, I just leave it in gear. The only "difficult" bits I have ever encountered when changing the brakes are: The disc retaining screws are made of cheese and easily round off so I had replacements ready the second time round. The rear sliding retaining pin (not sure of the technical term) is a bit of a pain to get out if you don't have something flat of the correct diameter to tap it out with, since the last time I did mine though I did see someone who clamped the pin with mole grips and then hit those to remove the pin, this seemed a sensible approach and is how I will attempt to do mine next time. The sandsmuseam guide seems the best guide, although it tells you to unbolt the rear caliper and I have never found this to be necessary. Gary
smithpaulg Posted May 31, 2013 Author Posted May 31, 2013 Well thanks to everyone for their advice ! As you can tell there was quite a spread of options so I have gone for the EBC turbo grooves all round with the pagid 4-2s. Hopefully I wont live to regret it (edit my decision)! Also, by changing my disc choice I managed to fit braided stainless hoses and fluid into the deal as well (cheers Dean and Russell). Gary thanks for the advice, as I also ordered some replacement cheese retaining screws. So just to warn you next weekend you might here a shout for 'Help!' (Scatty need not apply!) I will let you know how I get on, or i will be giving Gav a call. Cheers Paul ps I am regarding this as an enhancement (not an upgrade) so it doesn't count towards the trophy!
scatty Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Deffo no points, but we will wait until you have fitted said parts and performed a spirited drive and stopped safely.... :-)
smithpaulg Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 Well next weekend it has been decided... I will be fitting (and probably cursing alot) the following.....fronts and backs. Not sussed how to rotate the images yet though. Hopefully more luck with the actual items. Gav might need to help me with some of it!! Thanks Paul

Martin R Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Dont forget to remove some brake fluid from the master cylinder before you push any pistons back. It will go all over the place otherwise.
Alex B Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Paul when you doing it? I'm free Saturday morning if you want an extra pair of hands.
smithpaulg Posted June 19, 2013 Author Posted June 19, 2013 Alex, thanks for the offer, my mate offered to come and help while our wives go shopping !
smithpaulg Posted June 19, 2013 Author Posted June 19, 2013 The wives will be shopping for some time i suspect. Paul
