M@r]{ Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 Sorry hadn't noticed your first post. If you have AA breakdown cover you can pay an extra £5-6 a month for them to cover you car for parts and labour in the event that they cannot fix it. You have to pay the first £35, they pay upto £500. There are no limits to the amount you can claim each year. The only pain in the arse is you have to call them out before you can claim. I've also got their multi car, 3 cars covered works out about £13-14 a month I've had it for years and claimed many times (alternators, coils, engine mounts, chaffed wiring, brake calipers etc) However I have heard that they are starting to get a little strict with what they class as wear and tear. Ie you're alternator goes, your cars done over 100k and its the original you'll struggle. That sort of thing. IMO its still really worth it, particularly if you own a Lotus
Jumpjet Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Thanks Mark. How strict are they on servicing and service records? As a low usage car I tend to do most of it myself and not at the recommended intervals.
Steve J Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 They wriggle out unless you have a service history from a garage.
M@r]{ Posted June 17, 2013 Author Posted June 17, 2013 At lesdt the last three times I've claimed they didn't even ask to see the service history, last claim was over 400 quid too. In fact thinking about it I can't ever remember having to send them service history?
