Brian Robinson Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 I have a stuck thermostat on my 2001 lotus elise S2, does anyone know a good garage that can do the work or can anyone advise me what to do? Doesn't have to be comprehensive. Just bleed system. ... etc
stockhome Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Standard stat is a right pain to get to it sits under the inlet manifold. Some people recon you can get to it from the wheel arch. When I did I found it impossible without removing the manifold. I would take it to Gav at unit 4, it's a pig of a job
DeanB Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 I agree. And ask him to fit a remote thermostat kit while he's at it, to reduce the risk of HGF.
chris_h Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 The amount of work Gav is getting from MLOC at the moment, perhaps you could mention to him taking a banner advert on here, then his contact detials would be easy to find!!
stockhome Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 I agree with Dean if you going to the trouble of getting to the standard stat you might as well fit PRRT http://www.elisepart...ote-thermostat/ http://www.elise-shop.com/pressure-relief-remote-thermostat-elise-exige-s1-340r-only-rover-engines-p-79.html Here is a good post to read http://www.midlandslotus.co.uk/forum/topic/58678-prt-fitting-and-replacing-coolant/page__hl__prrt
Brian Robinson Posted May 6, 2013 Author Posted May 6, 2013 Thanks everyone, in the end I took it to unit 4, he's done a great job, think I'll be going back there! :-)
