Alex B Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Now ive fitted my harness bar, im looking for harnesses so I have been researching into how to fit the bottom harness points, with keeping my standard belts, or at least the passenger one. Are there any guides other than the seloc wiki which is usless. Or a fitting kit you need to buy? Many thanks yet again. Alex
scatty Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 I got a Luke one from elise parts. Obviously gav fitted it. But it came with everything needed to keep your standard belts...
Alex B Posted April 8, 2013 Author Posted April 8, 2013 Thats what I wanted to hear scatty, anyone else order schroth or willans ones and did they come with all the bits to keep standard belts? Sector111 seem to do a fitting a kit with slightly different bushing sets no uk supplies by the look of it. Any chance of a pic of someones installation?
scatty Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 I think chalkey ordered a schroth one recently, might be worth dropping him a PM....

MSAR sell the sector 111 kit http://www.msar.co.uk/detail.asp?p=83&o=S111_Harness_Hardware_-_Lotus_Elise_/_Exige_/_340R
Alex B Posted April 8, 2013 Author Posted April 8, 2013 So the s111 kit is only for use for asm schroth harness kits.
Alex B Posted April 8, 2013 Author Posted April 8, 2013 Fro what Ive just read it seems so. Think I will be going for luke harnesses from EP
JonS Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 I'm sure I did a harness installation kinda guide thread when I installed mine last year, but can't seem to find it now. I have Scroth's, look the danglies, and fit great even with my standard S2 seats.
Alex B Posted April 8, 2013 Author Posted April 8, 2013 Jon do your scroths wrap around or bolt in? Did you buy the lotus specific ones?
Martin R Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 You need wrap around for seats with harness holes and bolt in for standard seats. That is only for the top part of the harness. The lap belts are the same on both AFAIK. The only difference is there is a bracket attached on the top belts to make them bolt in. Remove this and they can then wrap around the harness bar. Scroth belts are excellent INO. Edit, if you look at this pic you can see the bracket that bolts to the harness bar at the top of the shoulder belts. The harness bar should be installed with the holes pointing down IIRC. http://www.msar.co.uk/detail.asp?p=1098&o=Profi_III-FE
Alex B Posted April 9, 2013 Author Posted April 9, 2013 I have installed the bar with the bolts facing down. If you look on the msar site they advertise some lotus specfic scroth harnesses, as well as normal ones what would be the difference?
stockhome Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 I would get the lotus specific ones, that's what I have and they fit perfectly. One issue if you plan to remove the seatbelts you should go for the red button. Apparently you need it a button to pass the mot. if you have the belts as well you can go for a turn buckle. Just had a look and the lotus specific ones have the right harness plates to fit the lotus. the rest look like they are clip on
Alex B Posted April 9, 2013 Author Posted April 9, 2013 From what I can gather from the lotus specific pictures I'd need to order the bolt in pieces separately as well as the fitting kit. I want to keep standard belts.
stockhome Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 You would have to order the shoulder strap plates separately
