Old Midlands run Help

Just been looking over a few old mloc routes through Wales with a view to organising something for later in the year.

The last Midlands run through Wales was organised by G and Laura I think? Great route with a lunch stop at Aberdovey (Aberdyfi in Welsh), for chips, sadly my group missed the chip stop due to a very busy Aberdovey.

Anyway, there was a stretch on the route that was a really great piece of road but sadly it was in the middle of being resurfaced on that day, lots of workmen and still sticky tarmac, not to mention billions of chippings.

What road was this please, I'm familiar with Welshest Wales but can't remember where that bit was.

Anybody able to help??

Thanks

Jon

I remember the road (and the chippings!) from that run. We lost Darren (NewPhooey) as a participant on the run I believe because of the chippings and the fact that he had only just got his lovely new Exige. Didnt see him again after that stretch of road, saw him next a year later at Chatsworth - was relieved as we thought he was still in Wales trying to avoid the chippings ;-)

G has better knowledge of Welsh roads than me so I'll find out if he remembers it.

Was a great run - and fish and chips too :)

Hi G,

I've got the route, its on the archives on here, just not too sure exactly where that bit was. I'm hoping to put something together that included small bits of all of the Wales runs we've done over the years. That bit of road was particularly good(except for the workmen) and several of the best roads crop up on most of the routes.

I have the day off today, and will be spending it driving some of Wales best....

Thanks for your help.

Sorry, only the female sheep are still recovering smile.png

Thank goodness for that. You had me worried for a second there....

Thanks Martin seen those,in fact I spent a couple of days down there last year, some really great roads around there. I'm looking at Welsh roads that are a little more Midlands friendly, got lots to put into a route and spent yesterday checking to see if they are still as good as they were last yearthumbs_up.gif which they are. Basically trying to get all the best bits from previous Wales runs into one run. Just can't remember where the bit above was from G and Laura's run. I've downloaded the route instructions but even going through checking the roads off against a map doesn't help me discover that section....

I checked the old link. You need to drive into the elan valley, point D, but carry on up past the 3 reservoirs to point E. That was the road which was being resurfaced on the morning we arrived. There are photos looking back down that road, the one with the group of cars in front of the reservoir. superb roads

Don't forget to put the evo triangle in ;-)

Thanks G/Laura??

Got it, drove straight past the turning to "E" yesterday doh! Still had a great time. Some of those roads are very challenging at this time of year.wink.png That road over the mountains forms part of my regular route, never really thought much about that turn off, will do next time though!

Thanks G/Laura??

Would seem G was logged in as me when he posted - anyone who knows me or been on the Serpentine run with us would know I could never give such clear directions!
