jimbo07g41 Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 I like your approach with the engine. Gold is a good heat reflector is it not? I think Mclarens use it. Looking brilliant. Pure Friday night porn.
Alex B Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 I believe the whole exhaust on the maclern f1 is gold. Have some pics of it from FOS 2010
jonnyfox Posted January 26, 2013 Author Posted January 26, 2013 Cheers fellas. Track Club will fit the engine next month, the ECU is going inside the cab behind the passenger seat. Maybe the battery too which I still have no idea where to put having lost the boot. I then need to get the rear clam off to be strengthened in various places and the various brackets I've drawn up made including new taller 211 based wing pylons. They are about 75mm higher with a different laser cut design above the clam line. The interior looks fantastic, it's a fab place to be and its properly finished, I love the job I've done there although I really want some Takata harnesses. I've got this burgundy(engine)/green(Radium)/CF thing going on (I know the saying lol) in the engine bay and want the same inside the car....... I had JSRacing refurb the wishbones ect last year and Aurok transform a set of rusty old 46mm Ohlins, that now look brand new and feel truly awesome. So all in all it should be done by April, that's almost everything new or totally refurbed. Well almost, needs a paint job but that's proving to be the hardest decision by far, I just cannot make up my mind at all, it's driving me nuts! Lambo grey is a big maybe with the dark red in places...... TBC :-)
Numbnutz Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Johnny, great thread ... what did you make the splitter out of?
jonnyfox Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 9mm Marine Ply. The front lip above and below I filled, sanded and painted with particular care so it looks pretty good tbh. The shape is tried and tested in a wind tunnel and is ever so slightly based on someone else's . I have a template if you need one cutting, I have a woodwork factory which is handy . I think the sheet was £60 if you need one cutting. Lol no obligation ha ha just an offer if you need one ever. I'm actually doing little bits for various people here and there who've contacted me during the build when having stuff made for myself.

I'm told lotus sells a very expensive splitter for 2-11 which some tend to break on track. you might be able to make a sell some cheaper...
jonnyfox Posted January 30, 2013 Author Posted January 30, 2013 I don't mind doing someone a favour at the same time with just the costs to pay but I'm not interested in making money on car parts. Marine Ply cost £40 a sheet, if I'm taking a CNC machine offline for one item I may as well cut two, it's the same with any metal work I get CNC'e or Laser'd. Edit.... Sheet price, whoops!
jonnyfox Posted February 1, 2013 Author Posted February 1, 2013 Toys have arrived . Various brackets. Pylon samples to be inspected and corrected before they get cut in 6mm Ali. All yet to be coated.
MrSimba Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Nice Jonny nice!!! Really cant wait to see this finished, well finished for now anyway!!!!
jonnyfox Posted February 1, 2013 Author Posted February 1, 2013 It's getting there Si, I have figures ;-) Stephen said on full throttle the intake almost sucked him into the engine WHOLE!
