russelld Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Does anyone know if RE050 195/45/16 tyres will fit onto my exige wheels. at the moment they have 195/50 on. so i guess for the winter the 195/45 will be ok, but i just wanted to check:) The 45 profile will lower your front ride height by 10mm. If your car is at standard ride height this should be ok, just be careful over speed bumps!! Nice car BTW love the colour !
Martin R Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Nice car. This may help regarding tyres. http://wiki.seloc.org/a/Tyres#Elise_111R.2FExige_S2.2FUSA_Elise
Harmy2010 Posted November 5, 2012 Author Posted November 5, 2012 Not sure if i like the idea of lowering the front end, where i park during the day has a pretty steep entry:S Back to the drawing board on this one i think. The A048's are holding up well at the moment. May give unit 4 a ring and get Gav to give the car a once over to see if everything is as it should be. I imagine he would supply and fit an induction kit if i asked? although i am yet to find a decent open air filter. I want some induction roar but all i can find is closed air intake.
scatty Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 mines standard height, and went from 195/50 to a 205/45. i havent encountered any problems with humps etc..its an expensive gamble though to find out.. you have found your first problem. trying to find tyres to fit...ao39 are a brilliant all year round tyre and come in the right size, sadly they are ridiculously expensive... just prey for no snow and ice and keep the 48's on.... and our gav opens on a saturday morning if you wanted to drop by for a chinwag....take your coat though, its like siberia in his workshop... were you a member on mlr mr harmy???

Yep he tyres are a problem. i dont want to keep the 48's on as i dont see the point taking life out of them in poor conditions, i would rather thrash them in the summer. so i think i first idea of Uniroyals is a winner, they come in the same size as the 48's:) I have a few days off next week so i was thinking about getting booked in for then. have you got a number for Gav? I was indeed on the MLR, its a good forum with some great guys on there. I have kept mu 'harmy2010' user name since my Focus ST days

Harmy2010 Posted November 6, 2012 Author Posted November 6, 2012 Gav at Unit 4: 01283535315 Thanks i know fqnick. i keep looking at that evo 5rs that a chap called peeler has for sale.very tempting. im with gav next monday for a service and new steering wheel, pop down if you are free.... Peelers 5 is a beast! I have been next to it at a couple of sprints and its a serious machine, although he knows how to peddle it which helps;) wont be free Monday. i have Thursday onwards off work. so a good time to get any things done to the car:)
the DustRoom Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Looking nice! Do I see parking sensors??
Harmy2010 Posted November 6, 2012 Author Posted November 6, 2012 Thanks, you do indeed see parking sensors, previous owner retro fitted them, they look factory though.
lummo Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Gavin at Unit 4 seems to get the thumbs-up from quite a few on here. Other places you might consider are: John Shorrocks Racing (JSR) in Dudley. (If you can get in past Jonnyfox's car, which seems to be in there permanantly) Paul Matty Sportscars in Bromsgrove Top Gear Automotive (TGA) in Wolverhampton. Personally, I use TGA (in fact I've got back from picking my car up after a service/MOT and remote thermostat fitting). Martin knows his stuff, and his prices are very reasonable. If you work in the centre of Brum he'll even drop you off at the railway station if you want, then it's an easy train-ride into New Street.
John FISH Curtis Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Lovely car (and the best colour). I have been looking at one the same on PistonHeads
