Harmy2010 Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Hi all! I am picking up my 2004 Exige NA S2 on Saturday(all being well). I have been looking at getting a couple more ponies out of it, where is the best place to take for a map and induction kit?(already sorted an exhaust for it:) ) Excited about driving about in the winter semi slick yoko's, my previous car being an Evo 8, i am sure it will be an experience
MrSimba Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Scatty's definatly the man you need to speak to here! He's gone high power Subaru to Exige & there's nothing exciting about winter driving on 48's !!! if it's your daily drive I'd get them changed, even AD08's won't work below about 3'c, 48's will be scary especially if your coming from 4WD to very lightweight RWD Post some pics up of your Exige when you get it home anyway!
G Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Welcome to mloc Not sure where you live but there are a couple of places you can try Hanger 111- have a look at there website for details http://www.hangar111.com/shop/202-lotus-exige-s2-s-engine-management Essex Autosport - had my work done here with no complaints and 1st class service. http://www.essexautosport.com/content/upgrades/upg_toyota.html Everyone will tell you be careful in the damp / wet on the tyres! Enjoy your exige, and put some photos up
the DustRoom Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Welcome to MLOC! I'm sure you'll enjoy the Exige but definitely take the 48's off over the winter; they're just not funny in the cold. Mine are being swapped this weekend all being well.
scatty Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Good man!!!' Welcome to the n/a club. its such a different driving experience, best described as wringing the neck out of it.... As long as it isn't raining or snowing you probably be ok with your 48's, but i wouldnt fancy hooning around in them, they are like wood in the cold. I've got ad08s on and have been a good compromise, it's still a not a happy bunny in the wet though, nothing like the all conquering 4 wheel drive I was used to as well. First thing id probably do is get the cam change lowered, hanger111 did mine. And induction and zorst as mentioned..,.without sticking a blower in the back not a great deal more you can get out of it, you will prob miss your torque,i know i do, but once you get it on track it all makes sense. And they look sexier than a jap car...I picked mine up last December and drove it everyday through the winter, you just need to drive to the conditions really, apart from getting a dodgy knee and a bad back I still love everything about it.although this could be my age catching up on me. i look forward to the pics. It will be good to pick your brains on the evos as well, I need to scratch my Evo 9 itch at some point....
DeanB Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Apparently different cams can make a difference. You might find though that it is fine as it is (although as Scatty says, the cam change mod sounds like a no brainer). In my experience it takes a lot longer to learn how to get the most from them than it does most "normal" performance cars, but when you do, they are hugely rewarding even in bog-standard spec. As everyone has said, watch out for them on slippy roads - they can and do bite. Lift-off oversteer is the classic and can soon have you swapping ends.
MrSimba Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Yep as Dean says if you go into a corner a little 'too' committed the worst thing you can do is lift! The car is just so much more capable than you'll think and will take years to learn the limits, keep your foot in and no drama's! Tho you'll clenching everything as you take the bend!!!
jonnyfox Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Hi. Lower the cam change to 5750 ITG Maxogen* 2ubular 421 Manifold * DeCat* Exhaust* Map it if you feel the need, I did. * all at the same time Big bucks...... Close ratio gear set, LSD Piper Stage 2 cams Map again The End :-) of the horsepower bit anyway and don't listen to Mr Simba he is the AntiChrist!
Harmy2010 Posted November 1, 2012 Author Posted November 1, 2012 Thanks for the welcome guys! I have just had a parting drive with the Evo, Its a real beast, Sca..tty any info you need just ask. An Evo is a car every car person should own at some point IMO. I usually run Uniroyals on my Evo in the winter so probably source a set for the Exige. I cant wait to pick it up on Saturday, I am under no illusions that i will be arse out and the king of drift in the Exige. But it was an opportunity to own a proper british marque, not to mention a NA sports car. I was looking at the supercharged ones but there is something pure about a mid engined, rear drive NA that appealed to me:) i will get some pics up when i take delivery:)
jonnyfox Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 I was looking at the supercharged ones but there is something pure about a mid engined, rear drive NA that appealed to me:) Actually I'm just about to sell my 94db Donny friendly 2bular 421 manifold, Decat, GT3 exhaust, eliminator kit and Essex (unlocked) mapped ECU to go UBER NA! (it's a kind of plug although someone has first refusal). Going big bore to match the intake, with a short ram airbox coming out the opposite side to current set up.
MrSimba Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 and don't listen to Mr Simba he is the AntiChrist!

Wow thats sounds like it will be a bit of a beast! I only have one sleep(and a 3hr drive) before i get my hands on my new car. I cant wait!! especially as i had to get the tram home today and walk in the freezing cold(i know the heaters in the exige are not upto much, i have a 'thermal car onsie' on order )
scatty Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 My heaters brilliant, it's the air con that's a errrrr con. What colour are you getting mr harmy ????? I think it's going to be a restless night.....
Harmy2010 Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 My heaters brilliant, it's the air con that's a errrrr con. What colour are you getting mr harmy ????? I think it's going to be a restless night..... As long as the heaters work thats good. I very rarely use air con, even on the hottest days, i can't bear the thought of not having 100% of the power under my right foot(maybe its a myth but i was told air con uses 10% of the cars BHP when active:P). I am getting titanium silver, it was between that and gunmetal grey, of which i could not find any examples with the mileage i was after. Defo a restless night. I went to bed at 3 and i am already up!! if only my mate who was driving me down to get the car would wake up early:P
Steve J Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 A na S2 exige will be fine in the winter. As will AO48s or R888s just keep away from snow ice and standing water.Salted roads aren't too kind to the ali and wishbones etc but keeping it clean will help. Best if you have a garage though. Wouldn't want to keep a Lotus outside. Welcome to MLOC.
