Twin Rear Brake Caliper Conversion

I did a trackday back in September at Blyton Park, whilst I was there I got talking to a nice chap with an Ariel Atom and he took me out in it for a few laps, mind blowing! the speed of the thing accelerating was absolutely incredible and when he hit the brakes it felt like all of my internal organs were going to be left on his dash!

I had a good lok around it when we got back into the paddock and noticed the rear brakes had twin calipers, a twin piston caliper for braking and a single piston handbrake caliper. So with this logged in my mind and after spaeking to a member on here who has the same setup I went and made up my own brackets, What do you think?

I have other Ideas for the front brakes ;)

I think it is a good idea but the old caliper is very heavy just for the handbrake. You can get smaller, lighter, calipers just for the handbrake, have you looked in to those?

A few VX owners have gone down this route but good pad choice gives better results that 2 pots on the rear.

CL6 front and CL5 rear :)

Agree - beware of unsprung weight !

4 pots up front will do the job on there own IMO without going to those extremes. A mate of mine has that set up, I have no idea why but he swears by it. Better off with bias valve. CL's are getting a bad rap for falling apart, me PF's all the way. Unsprung weight YAK!
