Replacement Key For Early S2 Elise

Hi all

My 01 Elise came with just one key and the imobiliser element is on it's way out, with the rubber button perished etc. Plus a spare would be nice.

Key type is shown here http://www.abacuscaralarms.co.uk/alarms/remote_controls/meta-remotes.html model M300. Its an integrated alarm and key unlike the separate alarm/imob fob i have seen on my S1 and wierdly on a later S2 111....

Wrang lotus jct600 in Leeds and sent them VIN and picture of the key type and they replied....

......................

"Unfortunately Lotus can no longer supply the Meta style key and fob as one unit. They do however offer the following as an alternative.

  1. Meta remote fob £52.60 incl vat ( currently on back order )
  2. Blade key £7.27 incl vat
  3. Archive search fee £14.40 incl vat ( this is not reqd if you know the 16 digit security number )?

I expect to wait 4 days for a key and 8 days for the transmitter. I would need from you your c/card details including matching address, and if possible

A copy of the V5 document.

We may need you and your car at some point for coding, but I need to speak to our technician ( who is on holiday ) to confirm this."

.............................

This prompted a google image search and thats where i came across the abacuscaralarms stuff for these Meta brand of alarm/key.

So i guess i can buy the head of the key then get the blade bought and cut elsewhere?

Any top tips key wise anyone? Where would i find the 16 digit security number (if it is...the website talks about an 8 digit one)

Also looks like stocks are low on the site so i want to get it sorted asap.

I too need the rubber button but luckily have 2 keys already.

I'm going to buy this.

you're welcome to it once I remove the rubber bit. I believe you can make the button from rubber grommets you can buy from halfords but I can't be bothered.

there is a user in here called Reg. he's a locksmith and is very helpful. send him a message and perhaps he could help with a blade and programming.
