Martin R Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Is the head ported as well ? It appears to run out of puff at about 6.5 K. When i had the VVC head ported on my old 111s it made a lot of difference. Nice results all the same. Enjoy
olliecast Posted October 5, 2012 Author Posted October 5, 2012 no porting martin, I think if the head gasket goes i`ll put in the different exhaust cam and get head work done. didnt want to split though at the moment as its running fine
russelld Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Those figures are very impressive for a VVC Is the engine standard apart from 4/2/1 manifold ?
olliecast Posted March 27, 2013 Author Posted March 27, 2013 no porting martin, I think if the head gasket goes i`ll put in the different exhaust cam and get head work done. didnt want to split though at the moment as its running fine Well the above is now underway! Thought I'd give the k another lease of live and learn to drive it better over the summer. The mrs also wants to learn so honda or Audi would see me a widow I think! Head is bring ported by hellier performance and the new exhaust cam is going in map tweak by z and f too and I'm just turning some offset dowels on my myford junior lathe Be interesting to see what it makes.
Martin R Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 I have just looked at this again. The torque curve on the graph appears to peak about 136 / 138 which would be somewhere near right i suppose. 170 bhp might be a tad optomistic though. It will be interesting to see what it makes after if you take it to the same rolling road. I would be interested in a few pics of the firering area before you get it ported if you are removing the head yourself? I suspect porosity or an indent has caused the problem. It would be nice to know if this is correct?
olliecast Posted March 28, 2013 Author Posted March 28, 2013 No problem Martin. Gonna go collect the head from unit 2 soon as its off and get some pics and measure the overall height to check its "skimmedness" in its current state.
DeanB Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Glad you are sticking with the k Ollie. Looking forward to seeing how you get on with the mods. Never forget they handle better with a lightweight k in the back. My s2 k is loads less lairy on the limit than my old 2.2 vx220. If you are doing trackdays you will notice the difference. With the lift-off oversteer especially.
olliecast Posted March 28, 2013 Author Posted March 28, 2013 Thanks dean, and it's unit 4 the cars at :/
