willgriffin1983 Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Hi All, Does anyone have an opinion on this: After having my wheel refurbished and new tyres fitted I have a noise that can only be described as rubbing two pieces of sand paper together coming from the front passenger side....but touch the brakes and it stops. I have checked the new weights and they don't touch the wheel-I've been advised to have new discs and pads on but I'm more curious as to what has caused this!! Any ideas welcomed :-)
AL. Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 The only noise I can think about that would be similar would come if the discs were rusty, but that wouldn't last very long and you'd be able to see the rust.
Martin R Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Good chance its the pads making the noise. remove the front wheels and check for any marks on the inside faces. then remove the front pads, clean everthing up. Make sure the sliders are moving ok and put it back together and try again.
fentuz Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 By precaution, check the wheel doesn't rub on the brake line. I had that and it was'nt good... Check the dust guard too, mine did some noises, the dust guard was touching the disc...
willgriffin1983 Posted August 13, 2012 Author Posted August 13, 2012 Thanks guys....took it all apart and then replaced the pads, problem solved! One of the dust guards was a bit close but not touching so sorted that at the same time. While it was jacked up and wheels off thought it was an opportune moment spray some AFC 50 around ;-D Thanks again!!
