Lotus in the Peak
28th - 30th June 2024

Recommended Posts

Some of you will have seen the threads running asking for suggestions as to how MLOC can celebrate it's 10th anniversary. A Derbyshire Sunday morning run followed by a picnic at Chatsworth in midsummer was tentatively suggested, and, in the abscence of any better candidates, informally approved. I believe the Liberal Democrats select their Party leader in much the same way.

Anyway, the date is now fixed for Sunday 8th July

There will be an early morning run, to include a stop-off for a cooked breakfast (I will devise a route, and provide maps etc for all those taking part - those that did the Derbyshire Run Out in January can testify to the quality of the roads and the beauty of the Derbyshire Dales and Peak District)

Then to Chatsworth for 11am

We will have a reserved area to the side of the house, allowing us to park in two lines facing each other across a narrow drive

£5 fee (to Chatsworth, not MLOC!) but discount on entry to the house and/or gardens (both are spectacular, for those that haven't been)

Time to kick tyres, have a chat, and explore Chatsworth

Picnic 3 ish - depending on numbers I may be able to arrange this as the wife says she could do it unless it is a really large party. If not, it will be BYO or buy something from the cafe at Chatsworth

Leave 4ish with another mini run to finish. I will work out the route again, and will try and make it a 2 stage affair starting and finishing each stage at the same point so those that want to can have passenger rides in mate's cars.

People coming a distance may wish to drive to Derbyshire on the Saturday night and stay at a B&B - it would make for a nice weekend, I think.

BTW I should post a warning to any single men that plan on bringing their girlfriends - I am told there will be a wedding party that will pass inbetween our cars en route to the service - you may not wish your other halfs to see this in case they get any ideas.........

Can all those that wish to attend please add their names to the list:
