Laura Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Just wanted to say a huge thank you to Jon for sorting out the Big Meet yesterday and for Neil for giving us such a great route and of course to everyone else who came along. After a very soggy cold start the sun came out for us and I think it was a good day had by all I know my group had a few casualties in the form of one cracked headlight, a busted radiator and one injured cyclist but it was all good fun and thank you to G for leading us (with the help of TomTom of course), although I am sure the 2nd group took a short cut in the morning to catch up with us lol Thanks again and I look forward to seeing everyone on the next one very soon
R.I.B. Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 It was an excellent day out! Another big thanks to everyone that helped organise the event, including yourself Laura. Phil
Dr H Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Injured cyclist? Sorry I whimped out looks like the weather bucked up in the afternoon. In way of thanks I've made a small contribution to MLOC. I promise I'll try and make the next one.
Laura Posted June 8, 2009 Author Posted June 8, 2009 Injured cyclist? dont worry, no-one ran a cyclist over, one was perhaps skimmed by a flying piece of bark though kicked up by G's car.
Ladders Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 This is crazy! You mean you actually meet up in your cars, and then drive them around, you northerners are mental! Wish this happened down here! (apart from me and Jon!) Hope you all had a good day!
G Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Thanks to everybody who came along, many thanks to jon for all his hard work and Neil for a great route. i really enjoyed the drive, it was a great mixture of roads and interest. i will post some pictures up later on tonight. i didnt really kick up the log on purpose, but it was a damn good shot i am really looking forward to the next meet already, wales is calling out
Eric Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Guys, Just wanted to say a big apology for wimping out after all the hard work from Laura, Jon and Neil. We were absolutely looking forward to coming along but the weather in Wellesbourne on Sunday morning was absolutely diabolical and there was even a single thunder clap to go with the torrential rain!! Next time, hopefully the weather will be just a bit kinder. Cheers, Eric
Numpty Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Just to add my thanks for a well organised event and a great day out. Thought the rain was a bonus, meant the roads were quiet in the morning (apart from cyclists) and only got stuck behind the one caravan. Obviously a shame for those on semi-slick tyres or roofless that couldn't attend. Didn't know what to expect for my first run; civilised cruise around the countryside, or a thrash by a bunch of nutters. From the start it obviously wasn't going to be a cruise, you set a good pace from the off Jon, although easy to say with the benefit of road tyres and soft suspension (more suited to wet conditions).
Guest Glen Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Thanks again to Neil, Jon and Laura for organising this. And it's always good to meet new people too - we are a sociable much aren't we.
JonS Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 ... I am sure the 2nd group took a short cut in the morning to catch up with us lol Nope, no short cut, just using the right pedals under our feet In way of thanks I've made a small contribution to MLOC. I promise I'll try and make the next one. Thank you Leigh. It is much appreciated. £50 taken on the door so to speak, so 25 cars
G Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 We had a lot of peeps on semis up front Nope, no short cut, just using the right pedals under our feet Thank you Leigh. It is much appreciated. £50 taken on the door so to speak, so 25 cars
JonS Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 dont worry, no-one ran a cyclist over, one was perhaps skimmed by a flying piece of bark though kicked up by G's car. I could have clothes-lined that one idiot cycling in the middle of the road asking us to slow down!! (we were already trickling past!) Who's road is it?? lol Wish this happened down here! (apart from me and Jon!) Am I no good for you any more Didn't know what to expect for my first run; civilised cruise around the countryside, or a thrash by a bunch of nutters. From the start it obviously wasn't going to be a cruise, you set a good pace from the off Jon, although easy to say with the benefit of road tyres and soft suspension (more suited to wet conditions). It is so hard to judge the pace from up front. Everyone was lined up behind me, but it seemed ok in my mirrors lol Maybe I'll lead the first group next time A great day that wouldn't have been the same without the members there to make it! It would have been a lonely day without you So thank you to all who came out and braved it, makes it all worth while.

I spent all day in front of my PC setting up a newsletter instead Despite all this I am still up for staying involved and meeting more folk! If my not turning up had a financial impact to anyone or organisation, please let me know who I need to pay...don't all rush at once Nick
