I have to say, I have got back home late Sunday afternoon and was spent, god only knows how Ray felt. A great success too, by the whole team.
What an absolutely fabulous day, nah weekend.
There was great company at the BBQ, with a good range of Lotus gracing the village square.
The Pootle on Saturday took us to the beautiful Carsington Water, on a beautiful Summer afternoon via beautiful roads not being used for the next days big event, so I am told, I took a wrong turn and found me way there solo (with a helpful text telling me the destination of the mystery tour). I made the error of ordering an ice cream cone which I enjoyed licking off my arm as it quickly melted.
Then up earlier (earlier for many who were travelling) to a misty, atmospheric Sunday Morning for the main event, the bun fight in a car park to find your group leader... No, not that! The epic early drive though the lanes and landscape of the peak district with over a hundred fellow lotus flashing lights, waving, cheering as they pass. I'd dare say there is no where else in the world where this happens. Ended with no incident and breakfast together at the Thornbridge Estate and, I have to say, a very impressive one at that, great bread, no cheap tasteless over-floured supermarket rolls here!
I was sorry to miss the procession through Winnats Pass, (I bet it was a monumental sight) to the main venue where we talked, joked, and raised money for charity (Rainbows) by drinking tea and eating cake, picnicking, as well as with raffles and auctions. Everything made goes to Rainbows.
If you came, come again, if you didn't.... come next time.
On a selfish note, I took no photos, so I'd love to see yours (of the event, of course).
And let us know what you enjoyed too.
