Starting on the dirty side of the Hungaroring, Jules lost two positions at the start and an additional two positions around the tyre change that the team wanted to make later in order to give the driver everything he needed to battle at the end of the race. Taking advantage of tyres in better shape than his rivals, Jules was able to move up to 7th position despite the problems in overtaking that drivers experience on the Hungaroring. Esteban's first race ended in the 4th lap after his engine experience a fatal mechanical problem.

Jules experienced the same issue on Sunday, on a damp track where he started on the odd-numbered side of the starting grid, the side which generates less grip. In fifth position in the first lap, he was shunted by a competitor whom he was overtaking, and he drove the rest of the race with a broken wing and damaged steering. After changing tyres when the track dried up, then again when a cloudburst occurred late in the race, Jules managed to secure points for a sixth place finish.

At the same time, Esteban Gutierrez made a blistering comeback from the penultimate row on the back of the starting grid in the second race. Working with the team, the young Mexican driver gambled on starting with slick tyres despite a damp track that looked like it would dry quickly. Esteban made one less pit stop than the rest of his rivals, but it was on the track that he secured a podium by the sweat of his brow, overtaking his rivals one by one, through exemplary control of his car and the weather conditions, in particular overtaking the championship leader in the last corner of the last lap.

In the championship, Jules moves up one place and Esteban moves up two. They are both currently in 4th and 12th position respectively. Lotus ART moves up to 4th position in the teams' championship.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     	Jules Bianchi:

"Conditions were not easy and the car's balance did not completely suit me in qualifying. The 6th position start was not bad in and of itself, but it was on the bad side of the grid and I lost positions during the start. We probably did our pit stop two laps early but that's always easy to say after the fact. I fell back to 11th position. There is only one place to overtake on the Hungaroring, in the first corner, and you are always expected when you are in another driver's rear-view mirrors. The 7th place finish was therefore good because it enabled me to start from the front row the next day. But unlike the even-numbered side, the odd side was damp and I lost a few positions. Then Van der Garde hit hard on the left side of my car and it was no longer so easy to drive. Under these conditions, managing to finish in the points is a good performance."

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     	Esteban Gutierrez:

"My fifth top 10 in a row was satisfying in qualifying, especially if we consider that we experienced some mechanical gremlins in practice. I was only 4 tenths shy of the pole position and the real downside was the difficulty we have to overtake on the Hungaroring. It was a big challenge I could not take on Saturday because of an engine problem, which the team is not responsible for, but I did overtake on Sunday and I have to admit it was really fun and exciting to catch up with the frontrunners after a start from the second to last row. At first, I thought it would be better to be conservative and to manage the tyres but the car Lotus ART gave me was flying and I pushed hard to make the most of it. It was a combination of different factors but the motivation never left us and we showed we can recover from a bad Saturday. The fight with Grosjean was really exciting in the last couple of laps and it was really satisfying to overtake him in the dead last corner. I can't wait to race in Belgium and to have a straight forward race weekend."

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     	Frederic Vasseur:

"It was very hard to bring everything together in qualifying and the result was satisfactory because traffic and managing the car could have made things even more complicated. Jules drove two great races. No one can look into their crystal ball and see what pressure or what type of tyre to select at such and such time, and he secured the best result he could have hoped for because his overtaking chances were reduced on a track like the Hungaroring. Esteban did not lose his concentration ; he made an exceptional comeback showing once again the extent of his talent and his race intelligence under dramatic conditions."

The French driver drove most of the race despite changing, tricky track conditions that required a mid-race tyre change. Jules lost control in the final corner of the penultimate lap, when one of his wheels hit a wet patch. The previous day, Jules Bianchi had crossed the finish line in 4th position.

Esteban Gutierrez started the first race from the 4th row and was looking forward to fight for a point finish. Unfortunately, he got penalized for an unsafe pit release which cost him time and positions. On Sunday, Esteban did an amazing job and stormed from the 12th spot of the grid to fifth place. He completed 12 laps on a wet Nurburgring and was one of the first driver to react to a drying track following a damp start and, having pitted for slick tyres he overtook Grosjean thanks to a great team effort during the pit stop. A podium was on the card as Esteban had moved up from 12th to 2nd but he lost a wheel two laps after leaving the pits.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Jules Bianchi

"We had some ups and downs but we can't complain. We secured 10 points and I gained two positions in the championship. Obviously, I would have liked to win the second race after such a strong Sunday, but I guess it was not my day as the slightest mistake and the only one I made cost me dearly. I locked the rear coming into the chicane and slid a bit, Romain got past me with 6km to go. Filippi hit me in the next corner and I'm lucky the car was not badly damaged. All in all, it is a good weekend, we secured some good points and we have to keep this trend to finish the season on a high."

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     	Esteban Gutierrez

"Being consistent in these difficult conditions was very hard. Had I put everything together in qualifying I would have secured the 4th fastest lap time. But I did not, and the race was a bit more difficult than it should have been. I wanted to be conservative in the first race because a contact at the start would have ruined the whole weekend. I had a good start but we made a slight mistake during the pit stop and I got penalized for a risky release during my pit stop. I lost many positions as a consequence and could not do better than 13th. I had a great start on Sunday and was already 5th at the end of the first lap. I kept pushing hard and was in 3rd when we decided to switch to slick tyres. I'm not sure what happened but I lost a rear wheel after a lap and a half, and that was the end of my weekend. The team is doing a great job and I can feel I'm making progress. We have to keep working hard and have clean and smart qualifying sessions and races in Hungary."

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     	Frederic Vasseur

"Jules dominated over 56 of the 57 race laps on the Nürburgring. An error often goes unnoticed in such a complex championship and this one must remain anecdotal with regard to the level of competitiveness demonstrated by Lotus ART. Esteban surprised everyone by being the fastest in the second race. We still don't know why he lost a wheel. Something, maybe a bit of rubber, probably slipped between the hub carrier when changing the tyres because the nut was on tight and the wheel didn't come off until after some ten kilometers. Overall, it was a good weekend for Lotus ART, who secured 33 points in the last 6 races, which is the 2nd best total, and just 3 points off Dams. We will have to turn it up in Hungary."

Followed by a fine 5th place finish in the second race, it enabled him to move up from 15th to 7th place in the overall ranking. With 14 points, it was Lotus ART's best single-meeting total for the season.

Jules Bianchi led the first race from start to finish, from his first pole position of the season, which was his 4th in the championship. Worried by Christian Vietoris, who briefly overtook him as he was coming out of the pits on cold tyres. Jules showed great control in taking command and establishing a definitive gap over his rival. On Sunday, Jules moved up from 8th to 5th place and secured two precious points from the perspective of both championships.

On the heels of his win at Valencia, Esteban Gutierrez had a brilliant race start on Saturday and was in 5th position in the second lap. Unfortunately, he was bumped by a competitor who was penalized for the maneuver which deprived the young Mexican driver of a finish in the points. The next day, he climbed up to 8th place.

Jules Bianchi

"I want to dedicate this win to the entire crew, who never stopped supporting me in the difficult times we have experienced recently. Lotus ART gave me the best conditions to get a pole position by finding a perfect set-up despite unpredictable conditions and in a session where we had to produce an effort from the first flying lap. I wanted to be cautious in the first half of the second race, perhaps too much so, because the podium was certainly within our reach fair and square. But 5th place is a good result to finish up a major weekend and which puts us back in the saddle for both championships."

Esteban Gutierrez

"The window for getting a good time in qualifying was only open for a few minutes and it was anything but easy to put everything in place what with the traffic and changing track conditions. 7th position on the grid was a good overall result and I was hoping to convert it into a very good place at the finish line. I had an excellent race start, overtaking several cars, but the timing of our pit stop was not ideal. It's easy to say in hindsight and there is nothing to regret because that's racing. After that, a competitor bumped into me, I lost time and one position, and I could not do any better than 10th. The main lesson of the weekend is that I have more and more confidence behind the wheel, that my performances are improving, and we know that we can fight for the lead in every race."

Frederic Vasseur

"For the second time in a row, Lotus ART has taken a GP2 Main Series race and it is a very positive dynamic. Jules had a faultless performance and it is only fair that he should have this first win that calls for others. Esteban was without success but that does not cut into his confidence at all because his potential is enormous. The championship is still young and everything is still in play."

The win by Esteban Gutierrez, his first in the series, comes at just the right time. The young Mexican driver took perfect advantage of his potential and his car's potential to bring home a few points in the first race, before putting it into high gear in the second race.

Jules Bianchi was involved in a collision in the start of the first race which compromised his weekend. Penalized by the race stewards, the French driver started the second race in 24th position. He then moved up to 7th place, once again demonstrating that he is one of the fastest drivers in the series.

Jules Bianchi

"I had a fairly good start and I overtook Ericsson from the outside, but I was not aware that he was so close to me when I resumed my normal line and my rear wheel has hit his front wheel. Unfortunately, this collision sealed my fate for the weekend, and despite an extremely competitive car, I did not manage to secure any points on Sunday."

Esteban Gutierrez

"The first race was a real challenge because I blocked the front end, which caused an imbalance and a massive vibration and I could barely see the track after that. From then on, I just wanted to bring the car home and secure my first point. That was a relief. On Sunday, I had a very good start and especially a very good re-start which allowed me to get past the leader. I was under a lot of pressure but I'm grateful to the team because they improved the car a lot and I definitely had a winning car today. I tried to stay focused and consistent. I managed to open up a gap. I knew there would be a win at the end of the road and it is great motivation for me as well as for the team. The first races were quite tough but that's part of the learning curve. We now have to keep our cool and keep up the good work. I'm sure there is more to come from me and the team."

Frederic Vasseur

"As usual, since the first race of the season, our performance level was excellent. Esteban had two perfect races, especially on Sunday when he was able to pick up the pace when he had to, and save his tyres when he had to do that. Jules was very fast and his comeback from 24th position to 7th will certainly be one of the highlights of the season."

Confusion during Esteban Gutierrez's pit stop during the feature race prevented him from taking advantage of a good start from the 9th row on the starting grid. The following day, Esteban had to forfeit before the start due to a hydraulic problem.

"Our losing streak continues, and we have to act quickly because the gap in the championship is widening, although the team actually has everything it needs to compete for the top spots. My qualifying lap was correct although if it weren't for an error at Sainte-Dévote, I could have had a shot at the pole position. That said, the penalty made me lose five positions on the grid, and starting in 8th I knew that I had to have an excellent start because that is the time you can move up places in Monaco. But errors here are costly and we accumulated them in both races, trying to make up lost ground. We can't become apathetic; we have to maintain concentration and capitalize on our strengths and take care not to make mistakes. The championship is still long and we have the potential to make a comeback."

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     	Esteban Gutierrez:

"In qualifying, due to the red and yellow flags, it was very difficult to do a better lap once I got a great one. I tried to start all over again, but I encountered traffic. In the end, being ninth was great. My start was quite good. We reached a very good position but then when I entered the pits I crashed one of our starters left on the way after the incident during the Jules´ pit stop. It destroyed my front wing and I had to come in again for a new wing basically it ruined my weekend. It was one of the hardest races of my entire career and quite an experience. But we did not get the points we deserved. Having said that, our confidence is growing race after race and I'm optimistic for the next round."

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     	Frédéric Vasseur:

"The disappointment is as great as our hopes were. During the races, despite a great potential that should have had us battling for a podium, everything went wrong for both our cars.
