PROTON Holdings Berhad (“PROTON”) today announced the appointment of Jean-Marc Gales as the new Chief Executive Officer of Group Lotus plc, effective 1 May 2014. Lotus is a wholly owned subsidiary of PROTON and a member of the DRB-HICOM Group.

Gales, a Luxembourgian, holds a MSc in Management from London's Imperial College, and a MSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Karlsruhe in Germany.

A known industry player, Gales has held several significant positions with numerous global automotive manufacturers. Prior to his new appointment at Lotus, Gales was Chief Executive Officer of the European Association of Automotive Suppliers (“CLEPA”) since 2012, where he played a key role in turning around the association through various strategic initiatives, including streamlining the working processes and increasing corporate members from 82 to 112. Gales also established a lobbying strategy with the European Parliament and European Commission, and helped define the Industry Research & Innovation Strategy and Roadmap for 2025.

Before joining CLEPA, Gales was the President of Automobiles Citroen and Automobiles Peugeot between 2009 and 2012, where he restructured the entire sales value chain and implemented a new brand strategy for the DS Line and introduced the Citroen DS in major markets around the world. During his tenure there, the Company delivered record retail sales in 2009 and 2010.

Gales' other previous appointments include several senior positions in Daimler AG, General Motors and Volkswagen AG.

Aslam Farikullah, current Chief Operating Officer of Group Lotus plc, remains as Member of the Board of Lotus Cars Limited and will continue to contribute to the growth of the business in the future.

Group Lotus plc, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Proton Holdings Berhad (PROTON), opened its first 4S Centre in Beijing, China in an event officiated by PROTON Advisor Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad yesterday. Tun was accompanied by Tan Sri Dato' Seri Haji Mohd Khamil Jamil, the Executive Chairman of PROTON and Chairman of Group Lotus, as well as Mr Aslam Farikullah, Chief Operating Officer of Group Lotus.

The Centre sits on a foot-print of approximately 1,000 square metres over 4 floors at the Golden Port Motor Park in Beijing. The Centre is set to offer a complete Lotus experience with a showroom and a comprehensive service centre, where owners will be able to service, and obtain spare parts for their Lotus cars.

The one stop 4S Centre – Sales, Service, Spare parts and Surveys (customer feedback) - also houses an administrative office, merchandise retail corner, customers lounge and a training centre. The building also comes with a complete customer service experience as it houses a club house for Lotus owners with a member's lounge, and other amenities.

Meanwhile, the advance and fully-equipped Lotus Service Centre comes with three hoists, an engine repair room, diagnostic and special tools for Lotus cars and many other advance workshop equipment to provide the highest level of customer service to current and future Lotus owners.

According to Mr Aslam Farikullah, China has been at the forefront of global economic development and consequently there has been a growing trend of international car brands taking an interest in China by opening factories and dealerships, “China's growth has not only opened the eyes of the international business community, but it has also inspired us to open this new Lotus 4S Centre.”

Aslam Farikullah also stated that opening the 4S Centre is a form of acknowledgment for a market that has been receptive of the brand since its first venture towards end of 2011, “The Company has been receiving positive demand for Lotus cars in China, hence there is a need for Lotus to position itself strategically and it is only fitting that these valued customers are able to enjoy the level of services and comforts that befit the brand's iconic status".

Lotus currently has eight dealerships in China, including in major parts of the country like Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu and Dalian amongst others. Lotus Evora, Exige and Elise models are currently available to the China market.

Lotus Cars Malaysia today launched the new Exige S Roadster to the Malaysian market in a ceremony held at the Lotus Flagship Showroom and Centre in Penchala, Kuala Lumpur.

The sexy roadster was unveiled by Proton Advisor YABhg Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who was accompanied by YBhg Dato’ Syed Mohamad Syed Murtaza, Chairman of DRB-HICOM and the Covering Chief Executive Officer of Proton Holdings Berhad (“Proton”), Dato’ Abdul Harith Abdullah, Group Lotus Plc Chief Operating Officer, En Aslam Farikullah and Senior Management of Proton. Lotus is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Proton Holdings Berhad.

Sitting alongside the Exige S, Exige Cup and Exige Cup R, the Exige S Roadster completes the Exige line-up and enhances the track focussed collection by providing a new facet to the range. Powered by the same 3.5L V6 as the coupé variants and weighing in at 10kg less than the Exige S at 1,166kg, none of the exhilarating performance of the phenomenal Exige range is compromised, yet the driver is only ‘two clicks and a roll’ away from cruising in open-top style thanks to the lightweight, factory-fitted soft top.

Achieving 0-100 km/h from standing in 3.9 seconds, delivering 345 hp at 7000 rpm (350 PS) and 295 lb ft of torque at 4500 rpm, the Roadster matches the coupé’s mechanical performance, but style takes an understated approach having shed its rear wing and front splitter to maximise airflow over its sleek silhouette.

According to En Aslam, the introduction of the new Exige to the Lotus product range has provided a new opportunity for LOTUS to expand and strengthen its production resource, generating new jobs and opportunities for skilled individuals who want to be part of the Lotus story.

"Since the takeover in 2012, Lotus has made great strides to reclaim its spot among the very best of the motoring world. The year 2013 marked a real turning point for the company with a 31% production increase. Additionally, LOTUS Engineering is working with more major OEMs than it did last year and now has 120 engineering projects in its books," he added.

As capable as its coupé counterpart, the Exige S Roadster retains all the intent of a race-bred sports car but also possesses the poise of a sleek convertible.

During the ceremony, Tun Dr Mahathir also presented a mock key to the first Exige S Roadster customer in Malaysia, Mr Simon Flint. The Chief Executive Officer of Fitness First Asia, Mr. Flint was naturally delighted with his new ride, which he ordered in Storm Titanium colour. "I have always been a huge fan of Lotus – since my cousin acquired an Esprit many years ago. The first Lotus I owned was a Europa SE and after experiencing that, I'm an absolute advocate for the brand. Now taking delivery of a new Exige S Roadster is a dream come true.

Lotus Cars is delighted to present its latest showroom in the Middle East. ‘Lotus Dubai’ opened its doors today at its prestigious waterside premises in ‘Dubai Festival City’.

Lotus Cars Middle East (the distributor for Lotus cars in the Middle East) is partnering with Trading Enterprises (part of the Al-Futtaim Group) to open the new showroom in Dubai called Lotus Dubai.

It is the latest showroom in the Lotus Cars Middle East portfolio, the first Lotus showroom in Dubai, and commences an exciting and ambitious plan to strengthen the Lotus brand across the region by developing its operation in both existing and new markets over the next 24 months.

Lotus Dubai was officially opened today by Mr Aslam Farikullah, Chief Operating Officer for Group Lotus plc, and Mr Len Hunt President – Automotive, Al-Futtaim Group at a ceremony including key media and senior management from the respective businesses.

Lotus Cars and Waitrose Supermarkets collaborate across the local region in support of the Norwich Foodbank

Sports car manufacturer Lotus brought a touch of glamour to the Waitrose Wymondham branch today displaying the head-turning Exige S Roadster which, thanks to the public, was filled to the brim with Waitrose goodies as part of donations received for the Norwich Foodbank. The Norfolk based car manufacturer has been working with Waitrose stores across the region in a fund raising initiative to support Norwich Foodbank and was today illustrating just how forging company alliances can benefit the locality. The Foodbank helps local people who through a crisis such as unemployment, bereavement, or illness find they are unable to provide for themselves or their families.

As part of Lotus’ commitment to the community, Lotus Driving Academy Hot Lap experiences were donated to the supermarket to raffle to its staff across the Wymondham, Eaton, and North Walsham stores with funds raised donated in vouchers to the charity.

Shoppers visiting the Wymondham branch were encouraged to get involved by donating non-perishable foods from their weekly shop with members of the local Rotary Club on hand to collect these donations in the store’s foyer.

Lotus and Waitrose were delighted to be able to present grocery vouchers to the value of £1400 for the local based charity together with a total of 1.233 tonnes of food. It is estimated this will assist some 500 local people and their families.

British car manufacturer Lotus has secured a £10 million government grant which will see the firm create more than 300 new jobs.

The Regional Growth Fund (RGF) has awarded the automotive firm £10.44 million, which will be used for research and development of products, along with staff training. In addition Lotus is expected to create 313 new full time jobs to support production over the coming years.

Business Secretary, Vince Cable MP visited Lotus’ Norfolk headquarters today, 25 November 2013, where he toured the engineering and factory facilities and formally announced the grant to Lotus management.

The grant is a further boost for Lotus, following a £100 million investment by its owners DRB-HICOM which has allowed the company to enhance its engineering, productivity, efficiency and quality. Lotus is also recruiting for more than 130 new jobs, previously announced in July 2013.

The Regional Growth Fund (RGF) is a flexible and competitive £3.2 billion fund operating across England from 2011 to 2017. It supports projects that are using private sector investment to create economic growth and sustainable employment.

Aslam Farikullah, Chief Operating Officer at Lotus, said: “This grant is part of a wider strategy for Lotus created to ensure we thrive and grow. We are responding to increased global demand for our cars and engineering consultancy services and this grant will help to position Lotus at the forefront of global automotive innovation.

“We have very exciting plans for our sports cars and it’s a very positive move for Lotus that we’re in a position to create new jobs and to significantly contribute to Britain’s automotive industry.

“The team here at Lotus have worked very hard to secure this grant and every employee is playing their part in the stability, growth and future success of our company.”

The cars in more detail: The Elise S

The Elise S is an icon in youthful motoring enjoyment. A trendy, pure-bred and lightweight 2-seater sportscar that delivers a feel-good driving experience, the Elise S benefits from a light aluminium chassis construction and mid-mounted supercharged 1.8 litre engine which captures Lotus’ focus of ‘performance through lightweight’.

Not only is it a head turner of the youthful style-alert, it is incredibly safe too. The aluminium chassis is mated front and rear by high-tech energy crash structures. The front composite structure absorbs five times more energy than an equivalent structure in steel, meaning it provides high-level protection for the cabin.

At just 924 kg and with 162 kW at 6800 rpm, its performance is nothing short of thrilling! Couple that with the open-top, 6-speed transmission of the Elise S, and you have a genuine sports car that is as perfectly at home on the open road or cosmopolitan urban streets as it is on the race track. The Exige S

Some call it “a track-day warrior”, others call it “a beast”. We say the Exige S is the true expression of Lotus’ DNA; a pure, focussed, drivers’ car.

The intent of the Exige S is evident from its statistics: It achieves 0-100 km/h in 4 seconds. It is capable of a top speed of 274 km/h and 400 Nm of torque at 4500 rpm – all thanks to a 3.5 litre V6 supercharged engine and weight of 1176 kg.

The performance of the Exige S is impressive, but what really sets it apart is its exceptional ride and handling, brute downforce and iron-like grip of the road. Competition-beating like the Elise, it has a youthful spirit, but it’s altogether more serious, intended for a focussed driver. The Evora S

Retaining the purist driving experience associated with Lotus cars, the exclusive Evora S boasts sophisticated styling, an aesthetic which belies the animal within! In every way it can, the Evora S communicates speed, purity, lightness and elegance, thanks to the craftsmanship of the visionaries at Lotus Design.

Boasting 258 kW at 7000 rpm and 0-100 km performance of 4.7 seconds, the Evora S with IPS ensures driver focus is uncompromised with the addition of paddle shift-operated automatic transmission. Powered by a 3.5 litre V6, mid-mounted engine and achieving a top speed of 267 km/h the Evora S is as competent as it is stunning.

The Type 125

Developed together with the Lotus F1^® Team, the Lotus Type 125, or more fondly referred to as the T125, is an exclusive, ultra high performance Formula 1® inspired race-car, complete with Cosworth 3.8 litre V8 engine producing 477 kW linked to a 6-speed semi-automatic gearbox with paddle shift. Its superlight weight of just 590kg gives a phenomenal power-to-weight ratio of more than 745 kW per tonne.

The T125 gives you the closest experience to that of an F1^® driver and, with a minimum number in production, offers a completely unique and privileged insight to top level global motorsport. Plus, you won’t need a team of mechanics to assist you. The T125 is fired up at the start of a button.

Lotus Cars

Lotus road-going cars on display will include a naturally-aspirated 2014 Evora with Intelligent Precision Shift (IPS) 6-speed paddle shiftable automatic transmission. This car is equipped with the, new for model year 2014, Black Package, giving the Evora a more aggressive style.

A Solar Yellow supercharged 2014 Evora S with 6-speed manual transmission will represent the higher performance end of the Evora range with 345 horsepower on tap to enable 0 – 60 mph acceleration of 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 178 mph. Both Evoras on display feature the Ebony Black with contrasting red stitching and piping Premium Pack – Sport interior as well as several other popular options.

Lotus Racing

The significant motorsports experience and talent present in the team at Lotus Racing is represented in the Lotus display by the Exige V6 CUP track-only/race car. The Lotus Motorsport Green Exige V6 CUP car in the exhibit is one of only 15 thus far imported into North America and it’s equipped with the same supercharged 3.5-liter V6 engine found in the Evora S road car. With 345 horsepower on tap to propel a car that weighs in at only 2,447 pounds, the Exige V6 CUP accelerates to 60 mph in under 4 seconds. Featuring Lotus’ legendary chassis tuning and 4-way adjustable Dynamic Performance Management (DPM) system, the Exige V6 CUP enables drivers of all skill levels to tame the world’s most demanding race tracks.

Lotus Engineering

The Lotus Evora 414E Hybrid cutaway on display has been developed as a technology demonstrator from Lotus Engineering. Producing 414 PS (408 HP) of power, it promises breathtaking performance from a highly efficient propulsion system. The concept showcases new developments in plug-in range-extended electric propulsion and new electronic technologies to enhance driver involvement.

The range extended electric drive of the Evora 414E Hybrid consists of two electric motors driving each of the rear wheels independently via a single speed geartrain, integrated into a common transmission housing, thus enabling torque vectoring for stability control of the vehicle. Electrical power is stored in a lithium polymer battery pack which is optimized for energy density, efficiency and high power demand and mounted in the center of the vehicle for stability and safety. Additional range is provided by the Lotus Range Extender engine, an optimized 1.2-liter, three-cylinder engine, designed specifically for series hybrid vehicles. The drivetrain is designed to combine astonishing performance with efficient, low emissions driving.

The Evora 414E Hybrid has been designed, engineered and developed to highlight Lotus’ innovative electric and hybrid vehicle technology without distracting from the pure sports car character of the Evora. While the cutaway 414E Hybrid on display very effectively showcases Lotus Engineering’s many innovations built into the vehicle, it also reveals the exceptional core Versatile Vehicle Architecture structure and double forged aluminum wishbone suspension that underpins all Lotus Evoras. This epoxy-bonded and riveted extruded and sheet aluminum chassis technology is manufactured for all Lotus vehicles by Lotus’ own Lotus Lightweight Structures division.

Unlike his team mate, Claessens had very little racing experience but despite dropping to third place, had the consistency to take advantage when their rivals dropped out.

The Track Club 4 team, consisting of Ginetta regulars Nathan Freke and Jamie Orton, and the Go Green Motorsport squad of David and Rob Fenn plus Adam Wilcox both took turns to lead the race before falling by the wayside. Orton’s stint ended with back problems that left him unable to continue, and with each driver restricted to a maximum of two hours at the wheel, the team were forced to retire the car from first place at half distance. Meanwhile Go Green, last year’s race winners, succumbed to water pump failure soon afterwards. This left Track Club 2’s Adam Knight and Adam Balon in second place and a fight for the final podium position between CAST and Fox Motorsport.

CAST’s Jack Goff was being chased by Fox’s Jamie Stanley in the final hour, but BTCC newcomer Goff pitted with just half an hour to go and smoke from the engine bay signalled an agonising retirement. Thus Stanley plus team mates Paul McNeily and BJ Chong completed the podium.

The Elise Trophy class for production cars was won by polesitters Adam Gore and Jason Baker, running under the Rob Boston Racing banner. Alternator problems for Gore forced the team to send out Baker early on, taking advantage of the class’s relay format. However they were back in the lead of the category by the end of the first hour, and a solid run for ES Motorsport saw Dave Carr and Matthias Radestock join them on the podium. A late charge from former Lotus F1 driver Martin Donnelly earned third place for his Martin’s Angels team, alongside co-drivers Charlotte Burridge and Gisella Ketvel.

The race was held in honour of last year’s polesitter Sean Edwards, and a tribute was held to him on the grid. The Hofmanns Europa that he raced last year was liveried in his helmet colours and the front row of the grid was left empty as a mark of respect.

Following the success of the Exige V6 Cup and its hardcore sibling the Exige V6 Cup R, the Lotus Elise S is adorned with the Lotus Motorsport magic to present the track-only Elise S Cup R.

Evolving from the 1.6 litre Elise platform, this is the first time the supercharged Elise S’ mid-mounted, transverse, 1.8 litre 2ZR-FE engine has been used in a Cup variant. Priced at £39,125 + VAT and boasting bespoke livery and aerodynamic body kit, the Elise S Cup R showcases the marriage of form and function perfectly so that performance is optimised yet retains its stylish and iconic aesthetic.

Performance is enhanced over the road-going Elise S thanks to a motorsport-specific engine control module (ECM) and a CFD proved aero pack comprising; front splitter, barge boards, winglets, rear diffuser, floor extensions and rear wing. Despite the extra body kit and race-ready additions, Lotus Motorsport manages to maintain the road car’s light weight of just 924 kg. These modifications and the clever manipulation of air-flow to create extra downforce, combined with adjustable damper and springs, reduces lap times by 4 seconds on a 5 km lap over the standard Elise S.

The Lotus S Elise Cup R is eligible for entry to the production class in the 2014 Lotus Cup series which operates under the banners Lotus Cup UK, Lotus Cup Europe, Lotus Cup Italia, Lotus Cup USA, Lotus Cup Japan, Lotus Cup Thailand, Lotus Cup China and Lotus Ladies Cup. The Lotus Cup is open to all Lotus owners and their Elise, Exige, Evora, 340R and 2-Eleven. To make a statement on some of the best tracks in the world, the Elise S Cup R has a selection of bespoke colour and trim options courtesy of the Lotus Design team.

The fresh and funky Elise S Club Racer reflects the purity of Lotus design and vehicle dynamics. Marking a new phase of development to the Lotus operation in Singapore, Lotus is pleased to welcome new partner Richburg Motors Singapore.

We are very pleased to announce the official opening of the new Lotus Flagship Showroom in Singapore, strategically located right in the heart of the city. In conjunction with the opening, Lotus also unveiled the Exige S, Elise and Evora to the Singaporean public.

The 4,400 sq ft Showroom was officiated by the Chairman of Group Lotus , YBhg Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Haji Mohd Khamil Jamil, who was accompanied by the Chairman of Richburg Motors Singapore, Mr Eric Wong. Also present at the event were His Excellency Mr Antony Phillipson, the British High Commissioner to Singapore and YBhg Dato' Lukman Ibrahim, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Proton.

Lotus Singapore will operate in partnership with Richburg Motors, who also represent Lotus in Hong Kong, allowing opportunity for a synergy between the two markets.

According to Tan Sri Haji Mohd Khamil, the launch of the Flagship Showroom in Singapore affirms the DRB-HICOM Group's commitment to revive and strengthen the Lotus brand, not just globally, but in particular in the ASEAN region. Lotus joins forces with Peace One Day to raise funds and awareness for the incredible non-profit organisation whose campaign to bring about peace is changing the world one day at a time.

Peace One Day’s goal is to establish an internationally recognised and adopted ‘Peace Day’ – just one day a year of ceasefire and non-violence throughout the world. As idealistic as it may sound, this amazing cause is making a genuine difference and was unanimously adopted by United Nations member states in 2001 as 21 September. Lotus is working with Peace One Day to do what it can to promote this very special cause.

Peace One Day’s campaigns and activities in education, music, film, sport, dance, art and online have encouraged millions of people to get involved marking Peace Day in every country of the world, and hundreds of organisations have carried out life-saving activities in areas of conflict as a result. Notably, Founder Jeremy Gilley and Peace One Day Ambassador Jude Law travelled to Afghanistan to spearhead a campaign that, over the years, has resulted in 4.5 million children being vaccinated against polio in hitherto unreachable areas, this was achieved as a result of Peace Day agreements by all parties in the region.

But together we can do so much more! Building on the idea of a defined calendar period, Lotus will be raising funds and awareness for ‘Peace Day’ throughout the month of September by donating 10% of its Lotus Originals Regent Street revenue to Peace One Day. Lotus will also use its amazing Piccadilly Circus location to promote ‘Peace Day’ with eye-catching window displays and will also be holding a very special in-store event on September 30th with VIP appearances from the Lotus F1 Team®.

At a high profile launch event in Tokyo last week, Lotus presented the awesome 345bhp touting, 170mph capable, 3.5l V6 Exige S to the Japanese market.

As one of Lotus’ biggest and most important markets, the introduction of the Exige S marks an important milestone for our Japanese importer LCI and its network of 20 enthusiastic dealers.

Lotus Chief Engineer of Test & Development Matthew Becker and Territory Manager Paul Bing were at the Reppongi Hills complex to unveil the Exige S and talk about it’s capabilities to guests keen to get a first glimpse of the car.

Currently, Elise and Exige sales for Japan reflect a significant parentage of Hethel’s production such is the demand for our British brand steeped in racing heritage. The Evora, which is available in all variants in Japan continues to sell well too, but what everyone wanted to know was, what’s next? Well, we can confirm that further variants of the Elise, Exige and Evora will be introduced to Japan in due course – watch this space!

Calling all Elise lovers!!

Since its launch in 1996, the Lotus Elise has become one of the most loved and iconic Lotus cars of all time. We have built over 30,000 Elise cars in 17 years, that’s over 33% of the Lotus’ entire production!

The stars were in alignment on Monday night for the European premier of ‘RED 2’.

The Empire cinema was the venue for the much anticipated premier of the sequel to ‘RED’ (Retired Extremely Dangerous) and the excitement from the crowds was tangible. London’s Leicester Square was transformed to stage the exclusive VIP spectacle with a red carpet stretching across the iconic London hot-spot.

The assembled fans went crazy for Hollywood hard-man Bruce Willis and his on-screen love interest Mary-Louise Parker, and Britain’s own Helen Mirren simply sparked on the red carpet. All three cast members took time to sign autographs and take interviews to promote action-comedy penned by the hilarious Hoeber brothers.

The premier was screened for a ‘by invitation only’ audience attended by celebrities, contributors and media. We had the opportunity to send two lucky competition winners along and they trod the red carpet alongside Brit award winning band ‘Blake’, singer/songwriter Katie Melua, BBC’s Sarah Jane Crawford and singer/model Leah Weller all of whom were in the audience.

All who saw the film commented on the pace, the laughs and the incredible stunts; what was clear though was that the car was the star! The sequence with the Laser Blue Exige S was a real stand out with many commenting that the scene where Mirren’s character Victoria holds twin Glock 34's and fires out of both windows during a 360 degree drift as their favourite moment in the movie. We agree! You can judge for yourselves on August 2nd when the film goes on general release.

Lotus Cars Limited is pleased to announce the expansion of its auto retail operation in Germany, with the addition of a new dealership in Anzing, near Munich.

Exklusive Kollektion, the prestigious German auto retailer has moved its flagship Lotus store to Anzing, whilst its current Dresden location will now be dedicated to pre-owned sports cars. The move has been prompted as a result of both Lotus’ and Exklusive Kollektion’s growing customer base in the south of the country. To celebrate the new opening, Lotus München organised an Open Day event on Saturday 20 July 2013. Cars displayed at the event were the Lotus Exige S, Lotus Evora S Sports Racer, Lotus Elise S, Lotus Elise Club Racer, the special one-off “Top Gear Lotus Lada”, along with a number of classic and pre-owned Lotus cars and a selection of Lotus Originals products.

Lotus München shares the existing showroom of Sportwagen Teiber, an established and respected retailer of sports and classic cars to discerning Munich clients. Close to the A94 autobahn, around 15 km east of Munich, this recently built facility, complete with Lotus corporate identity, displays the full range of Lotus sports cars. The new facility is close to some great test drive routes so potential customers can experience some of the greatest handling sportscars in the idea environment. Exklusive Kollektion was established as a Lotus dealer in 2008 and is consistently one of the best-performing Lotus dealers in Germany. Its move into the Munich and the south-German market promises to delight existing Lotus customers and welcome lots of new clients to the Lotus brand.

Lotus COO Aslam Farikullah introduced Lotus F1® Team driver Romain Grosjean to the new Exige S roadster today.

During a fun filled day at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed, Lotus Cars COO proudly presented the stunning Exige S Roadster to Grosjean ahead of its first outing.

Grosjean took the new soft top on the famous Goodwood hillclimb to mark its first public dynamic appearance, wowing the thousands of fans who took to the sidelines.

The heat at the 20th FoS was pretty intense today but it was the Exige S roadster with its gorgeous looks and superstar driver that got the crowds hot under the collar!

Festival fever is in the air as Lotus gears-up for this year’s

Goodwood Festival of Speed.

An epic year that celebrates the 20th anniversary of the now world-famous ‘FoS’ will see Lotus

displaying an array of treats for the thousands of motoring enthusiasts, F1 fans and garden-party go-ers

making their way to Goodwood this weekend.

Lotus has chosen the Festival of Speed as the perfect backdrop for the dynamic launch of the Exige S

Roadster and will also be presenting the 2013 Lotus F1® Team’s black and gold E21, the brand new

Elise S Club Racer and the very same Exige S that performed high octane stunts in this summer’s

eagerly anticipated blockbuster movie ‘RED 2’. This collection of superstars sits alongside a full

compliment of current Lotus models for a truly exotic turnout.

This year, Lotus proudly displays a replica of the 2013 Lotus F1® Team car, but just to go that extra mile

(it’s Lotus after all), Lotus F1® Team driver Romain Grosjean will be making an appearance too!

Romain will be driving Lotus COO Aslam Farikullah ‘up the hill’ in the brand new Exige S Roadster in it’s

maiden public voyage on Saturday to mark the official launch of the fastest soft-top Lotus ever! Romain

A highly advanced, hybrid sports car concept developed as part of a cutting-edge collaborative R&D

project funded by the UK’s Innovation Agency, The Technology Strategy Board (TSB).

The Evora 414E is powered by two electric motor packs driving the rear wheels with a battery pack that

can be charged by the Lotus range extender engine or directly from mains electricity. The Lotus 3

cylinder engine, can run on either sustainable synthetic and bio alcohol fuels (methanol and ethanol) or

petrol sits in series with the electric motor and drives a generator, which produces electrical energy to

either charge the battery pack or power the electric motors directly. In normal driving, the Evora 414E

will run purely on electricity stored in the battery pack for up to 35 miles (56 km). After that time, the 1.2

litre engine will run to recharge the batteries and produce just 55 g CO2 / km emissions (target EU drive

cycle).

Should the driver require more performance – the Evora 414E is a Lotus after all - the electricity will

come from both the battery storage and the small range extender engine.

Iceman Kimi Räikkönen delights Lotus staff with his track antics and gives his thumbs up to the new Exige S Roadster

Former F1^® World Champion delighted Lotus staff today with an impromptu visit to the company’s Hethel Headquarters to drive the new Exige S Roadster ahead of this weekend’s British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Kimi gave the new Exige S Roadster the thumbs up before going onto drive the thrilling Evora S Sports Racer as well as the rest of Exige range - the Exige S Coupe and Lotus’ track monster the Exige Cup R. He then went onto meet and greet members of staff and sign autographs.

In speaking of his visit he said:

“Great to be at Lotus, the staff have made me feel really welcome. The Exige S Roadster is a quick, agile little sportscar and looks really cool.”

Lotus Chief Operating Officer, Aslam Farikullah commented “We are very grateful to Kimi to take time out of his busy schedule in the run up to the British Grand Prix to come and enjoy our great cars and meet the staff. I hope his visit here will inspire him and the team to great success over the weekend.”

Valter Pinheiro and Renan Guerra won both races and shot into lead in the 2013 Campeonato Brasileiro de GT (Brazilian GT Championship)

On Friday 21st June, under heavy rain, Valter Pinheiro and Renan Guerra showed early promise by recording the fastest time in the final practice session. The Lotus Evora's sovereignty was threatened only in qualifying, when the Aston Martin of Hellmeister and Laganá was only one tenth of a second down from the Lotus.

In the first race, on Saturday 22nd June, the competition was fierce at the beginning, as the Lotus pair fell quickly back to third place. Guerra and Pinheiro reacted strongly, reclaiming the lead and maintaining it to claim the top step of the podium. They were joined on the podium by Rossete and Greco in second, and Laganá and Hellmeister third.

In Sunday's race, victory was even harder to achieve as Pinheiro starting from fourth place managed to jump into the lead on the first corner. Thereafter, he had to defend vigorously to withstand the pressure of Rosetti's Maserati. In the second half of the race, Guerra struggled to keep ahead of Hellmeister, who managed to put in even faster times in his Aston Martin than he had in qualifying!

Valter Pinheiro: "We led from the first corner, but the pressure of maintaining that lead forces errors, especially when other cars are faster on the long straights," said Valter Pinheiro.

With these two victories, the duo took took a strong lead in the GT4 category. The next double round will take place on 27th and 28th July in Tarumã, Rio Grande do Sul.
