Lotus did not turn a wheel today due to extremely cold and blustery conditions at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana. With temperatures hovering in the high 40’s and a stiff wind blowing, team officials felt that nothing of value could be learned by practicing today and that the risk of damaging the cars outweighed anything that could be gained. Most of the other competitors agreed as only two cars ran a total of 13 laps today. In the first four days of practice for the 2011 Indianapolis 500, KVRT – Lotus has not been on track twice and one of the two days they were was shortened. For most of yesterday’s Itaipava Sao Paulo Indy 300 it looked like Takuma Sato was going to take his first ever IndyCar victory, but his strategy gamble sadly didn’t pay off. He crossed the line in eighth, earning 24 valuable points. Think Brazil, think tanning oil, caipirinhas, and as little clothing as possible. Sao Paulo had different ideas, though, when torrential rain on Sunday meant not even the TV cameras could pick out the action, let alone the spray-inflicted drivers. This summoned the red flags and the race was postponed till Monday, which was still pretty damp. With just one hour 19 minutes of the race left to run, the order was resumed from Sunday, …
