The Sixties – What an era! A time of the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Beach Boys – and when Lotus put some noise to the roaring sixties with their sensational IndyCar innovations with more than a little HELP from the legendary Jim Clark. FT. WORTH, Texas. (June 4, 2010) — The Texas heat wasn’t kind to most of the 26 drivers in the Firestone 550K qualifying Friday afternoon at Texas Motor Speedway. With track surface temperatures at over 135 degrees and air temperature at 95 playing havoc with the drivers’ setups of their cars, KV Racing Technology drivers Mario Moraes, Takuma Sato and E.J. Viso managed to survive the brutal conditions to post solid performances. Moraes, who finished tenth last year at Texas, drove the No. 32 KV Racing Technology Honda/Dallara/Firestone car to a four-lap average of 213.800 miles per hour to record the ninth fastest speed of time trials. Moraes’ run w…

Still, “it was a good race”, said Taku after his best result to date in his Lotus-backed KV Racing Technology Dallara-Honda. After the tight confines of Toronto, the teams had moved west to the Alberta track of Edmonton, which is much wider. “This is a truly unique circuit,” said Sato. “It's kind of a street course but the corner speeds are a lot higher and we were using road-course tyres, and the bumps are just unbelievable! The infield section is quite nice, and gives you a good rhythm, but with 14 corners in just over 60 seconds you are always turning, even on the straights, which are so wide you don't know where you're driving at first and you're always…

LEXINGTON, Ohio (Aug. 8, 2010) — Mario Moraes fought a painful wrist to place 12th Sunday in the Honda Indy 200 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The 21-year-old Brazilian driver was suffering from an injured right wrist that was taped heavily following a mishap at Edmonton two weeks ago. Moraes still managed to bring his No. 32 KV Racing Technology Honda/Dallara/Firestone machine across the finish line 12th in the 85-lap feature on the tough 2.25-mile 14-turn road circuit north of Columbus. Moraes worked his way from his 16th starting position to challenge for a top-ten finish before settling for 12th. The placing moved Moraes closer to the top-te…

Takuma Sato has been keeping a pace similar to his 230-mile per hour IndyCar for the past two weeks in Japan. Sato, the seven-year Formula One veteran, will make his first Japanese racing performance in three years this Sunday in the Indy Japan 300 at the fast Twin Ring Motegi 1.5-mile oval. But the 33-year-old Tokyo native has been in high demand off the track with a variety of appearances in his native country. Taku's last competition in Japan was at Fuji Speedway on September 30, 2007, so his enthusiastic fans and sponsors are anxious to see him behind the wheel of the #5 Lotus—KV Racing Technology Honda/Dallara/Firestone entry. From his Denver ho…

Helio Castroneves took his first victory since Texas last June as he played a canny fuel strategy game to win the IndyCar Series' inaugural round at Barber Motorsports Park. Ganassi's Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti followed the same two-stop plan to complete the podium, while Will Power's run of wins came to an end as his choice of three stops left him fourth for Penske. But the race could easily have seen Marco Andretti win for the first time in nearly four years, as he led for much of the distance before his fuel conservation bid failed and he had to make a late pitstop, dropping him to fifth. With passing extremely difficult at the undulating Alabama…

Takuma Sato's debut on the iconic Long Beach street course did not run to plan, with the IZOD IndyCar Series rookie seeing his hopes of a solid result hit - quite literally - by another driver's inattention. Sato was unable to improve more than one place on his 19th starting position, despite initially making moves up the order, after his #5 Lotus-KVRT Dallara-Honda was collected by Dale Coyne Racing's Alex Lloyd, causing the Japanese ace to spin. Although he was able to return to the fray, and continued to take the chequered flag, he was a lap down on winner Ryan Hunter-Reay. “It was a tough weekend," Taku admitted, "After qualifying Saturday, we made…

Will Power continued his outstanding start to the 2010 IndyCar season by taking pole position in St Petersburg. Fresh from winning the season opener in Brazil a fortnight ago, Power was quickest in every practice session at the Florida street track and then earned a comfortable pole. Penske driver Power breezed through to the decisive Fast Six session and set a 1m01.7s lap on his first run of the pole shootout. None of his rivals could beat it - and Power then cemented his advantage by improving even further, to 1m01.6026s, as the chequered flag fell. Tony Kanaan gave Andretti Autosport its first front row start since summer 2008 as he claimed second, 0.2771s …

TORONTO (July 17, 2010) — E.J. Viso, a podium finisher recently at Iowa, led the KV Racing Technology four-driver lineup in Saturday qualifications for Sunday’s Honda Indy Toronto in the 1.74-mile, 11-turn street circuit at Exhibition Place. Viso, driver of the No. 8 PDVSA — KV Racing Technology Honda/Dallara/Firestone entry, looked to be in a strong position for the Firestone Fast Six shootout Saturday after a sensational second place practice run in the morning session. The Venezuela driver was on a blistering pace throughout the one-hour morning runs. However, changing track conditions seemed to affect Viso’s mount in the opening round of afternoon qualification…
