Had a fun day at Oulton yesterday, it was my first track day in the car since I built it and I had no idea how it was going to perform or how the setup was going to work. I was very happy with it though, massively stable, hugely confidence inspiring and loads of fun! Heres a few vids, hope you enjoy! A teaser... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6SD3yp6d_o&feature=c4-overview&list=UUW65UFJBSHSTXa9qG7YyaRA Toe link bolt gave up at 80mph in turn 1...easily fixed though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9qjD525qGA&feature=c4-overview&list=UUW65UFJBSHSTXa9qG7YyaRA The track did start to dry briefly before lunch... http://www.youtube.co…

I sat in the passenger seat while one of the instructors - Jan - took us round at a relatively sedate pace for him. (He didn't want t break my car.)

Here's a number of laps from one of my session from Castle Combe the other week. A great circuit, very quick and also quite bumpy in places so the car can get unsettled in places. I have my suspension set very stiff so you can see the number of bumps by the amount of jolt in the steering wheel. This session was after the free tuition that was offered which really helped picking the lines and also where to short shift and entry speeds. With no particular straight there isnt much room for restbite here so you really feel like you're working hard - althought the video looks fairly calm! All in all a great day, great weather and a more than great car!

My Elise has a DAB radio - it has always had it, but on the basis that there is nothing in an Elise that you don't actually need, I have never looked at it too closely. I have just discovered it can receive BBC4 Extra, which runs loads of old comedy programs like "The Goons", "ISIRTA" and "Hancocks Half Hour". Not only that but the radio can be set to record - even when it is switched off - so I can drive home listening to the Goon Show recoded while I was at work earlier on. How much better can life get - driving a 111R and listening to the Goon Show at the same time. Almost sensory overload. It also has a one touch record button and a 15s buffer so you c…

Great few days with Greg, Ali, Russ, Elaine, Andy and even Steve to a degree Spa was wet and apart from a dry line at lunchtime I really was too nervous to enjoy it. Especially after seeing about half a dozen poorly Lotus' and a Porsche that certainly wasn't going anywhere all in separate incidents. Anyway, I've done it now and can tick it off the list. Croix on the other hand was a laugh. It's the 2nd time I've done it and what fun! This was a lap of the driest Spa was all day. I'll do a Croix video in a bit.

A great clip from when I used to go as a kid with Dad. I think Dad marshalled this race. They were the days, I grew up with Castrol GTX in my blood, in those days I was allowed to sit in the pits as Dad was a marshall. Some real classic cars in this race from my youth!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFR6gwb8Ugs
