I've been wanting to drive around Norway for quite some time now, and so finally this year I've managed to keep hold of a two week gap to make the most of such a trip. Will get to really test my Probax seat re-upholstring. Obviously with Simon Mac's recent voyage, this is something that at least one of us has recent experience of... though I don't have the aim for getting to the arctic circle! Here is the route I have planned at the moment. I'm just looking at whether I can do the Stockholm segment as I looked more into road speeds and it is going to take me longer to get from point to point than I first thought as a lot of the areas of Norway I'll be visiting have lo…

It’s a long time since I’ve posted in this section, but here goes. As my Lotus is under repair at the moment we had no choice but to use my Father In Laws Jaguar F Type Coupe to get to Francorchamps. It’s an utterly effortless cruising machine, as sadly we were just intent on getting here as quickly as possible, so just did motorways. Walking around on the Friday (arrivals and early practise day), I saw lots of interesting cars in the paddock and please forgive me for focusing on our marque. Here you go... A very used Lotus XI... I like the patina! Lotus 26R An Elite So pretty and beauti…

As some of you know, the wife and I, my friend and his girlfriend are off on a little summer tour of Europe. A total of 15 days, covering approximately 3,300 miles, just for ultimately one reason - Stelvio! Me driving The Bug, and my friend in his 53 plate Z4. We are embarking on a trip that we thought we would regret it if we didnt do it this year, whilst we both have the opportunity. As quite a few people have shown interest in where we going I thought I would put some info here to show what we doing and where we're going. Feel free to add comments/advice/etc. We leave on July 26th and get back on August 9th. This is more or less the route we will be taking: Map…

If I was to be planning a trip to the Stelvio area, Italy next year, what kind of 'tourist' sites can I make as stops along the way to help convince the wife we should go? I also need to convince a mate that we should go there instead of the Nurburgring so some great roads along the way would never go amiss. I know some of you have done this trip before. I want to make it a sightseeing trip, not just a jump in the car for 5/6 days and drive lol. We are thinking of going at Easter time, where ever we end up going. I guess I should expect snow/ice in Italy? Is this a good/bad time to go? What can we see/go/stay/do along the route? I'm really a novice at car trip…

As a couple of guys have been caught by the fuzz over the last weekend, I wonder if we should advertise runs out on this forum. Is that the correct thing to do? Is anyone up for a drive out on Sunday? Can anyone suggest a route or better still, be a guide? Maybe meet at the usual place at the usual time and go from there. If no ones up for it, no dramas, but its my last shebang before I go out of the country for 3 months. Any takers...

Have been posting on Seloc since buying my first Lotus and figured i should start posting on a board that is probably more local to me Also attended a Lotus Drivers Club meeting which is held close to me and got to meet some really friendly people so will hopefully be attending more of these. First proper trip and chance to spend some real time with it since picking it up beginning of june. Started down the M'Way to shrewsbury. Stopped for a bite to eat there and then started up to Oswestry and turning down the B4396 onto the B4391 after many suggestions to try this road. Stopped for some photos of the car. Stopped at the Royal Oak in Betws y Coed which had be…

Well seeing as the Suns been out, me and the wife decided to take a few days off work and head down to North Wales to take in the "Evo Triangle" and Llanberis Pass. Set off early Thursday and drove to the hotel to drop the bags off. We stayed at the Groes inn at Conwy. Evo magazine stay here when doing "shoots" in Wales. Would definitely recommend it, great food / room. (Ignore the disabled parking sign, only parked there for the photo lol) Great view to wake up to! Decided to do the "Evo Triangle" the first day, then Llanberis Pass, Snowdonia the second. There's loads of reviews about the "Evo Triangle" so no point doing another. What I will say i…

Playing a game of pin the tail on the donkey with a map of Europe, and I'm thinking of completing the Top Gear trinity, I've done Stelvio and the Trollstiggen so .... ..that just leaves the Transfagarasan Highway. Rough planning stages but Hull ferry over to Rotterdam, then down through Germany into Austria. Vienna is on the bucket list before heading off to Budapest. Down from here to the start of the 150km long road, on the way to Bucharest. Ideally I'd like to get as far as the black sea, before heading back through some more of the Balkans. Any tips?

As posted in events I know that there are a few MLOC'rs out there who have shown an interest in doing a Stelvio tour. So i have got together with Steve N and we have come up with rough tour and price. We have outlined the proposed route, hotels and price in the link below. The proposed tour is for 10 days (one week taking in two weekends) If anyone is interested, we will get together and finalise the details. It will be up to each individual to make their own bookings. In order to ensure that we all end up in the same hotels, i would suggest that anyone interested in this tour adds their name to the list as soon as possible. We intend o…

Please be aware that the law regarding speed cameras in France changed recently, and it is now an offence to have any device that identifies the location of cameras, including POIs in Sat Navs. Radar detectors were banned a while ago but "Les Bleus" have now banned everything basically. The offence is having it so if you go to France ensure that the function in your Sat Nav is switched off before you enter France. The penalty is up to 1500 Euros!!!

So I bought this tiny plastic car 9 years ago, and you know how it is, you get married, have children, and the plastic car gets forgotten in the garage. So I convince SWMBO that it is a good idea to dump the children at my parents and spend the weekend in France and fitting in some Champagne tasting whilst we are at it. (Can you guess at which point she agreed?) Oh and she hadn't even sat in the car since she was pregnant with anklebiter no.1 which was 4 years ago. So day 1, the drive from Staffordshire to Amiens, via the tunnel. IMGP3274 by erkflik, on Flickr Sunset, still not at the hotel yet IMGP3297 by erkflik, on Flickr Day 2…

So for 3 years the son and heir has been badgering me to do a euro trip to include reims, milieu bridge, stelvio or similar and some big tunnels. Want to do it a little "wild" with a tent in the boot for impromptu camping but also think a comfy bed might appeal after 2/3 days hard driving. does anyone have a route or any experiences to share on trips they have done. is it feasible to do all this in 4 days on foreign soil ? Cheers Richbk
