So for 3 years the son and heir has been badgering me to do a euro trip to include reims, milieu bridge, stelvio or similar and some big tunnels. Want to do it a little "wild" with a tent in the boot for impromptu camping but also think a comfy bed might appeal after 2/3 days hard driving. does anyone have a route or any experiences to share on trips they have done. is it feasible to do all this in 4 days on foreign soil ? Cheers Richbk

As my holiday is of course cancelled I'm hoping to have a couple of days out in the Lotus - I'd like to see the sea! Anyone done the A52 route to Skegness in a Lotus? I've not been that way much for a long time and dont whether its a good route. Normally I'd head off to Wales but it appears thats still a no go area.....

Had the pleasure of driving this road the other week, can thoroughly recommend it, better than a lot of the roads in Wales I've driven, just a shame i was driving it in the pouring rain, our Audi A4 quattro performed well though......need to get the passenger seat repaired now where the missus' nails have dug in! Just a shame its a 5.5 hour drive away

Hi All, Next week i'm off to Tenby, Wales and instead of sitting on all the main roads or motorways i'd love to tour through the Brecon Beacons for the first time. I've come up with a route based on a couple of roads i've heard mentioned a few times on here, but I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or roads that are a must? Thanks in advance! Phil http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&sour...580902&z=11 Edit, another option... I could plan a route there and a different route back home, if the weather is great on both the days i'm traveling.

A quick question before i post up my plans for an Alps roadtrip 2010... Are the various Alps passes still open/ passable in late September/ first week in October? I'm not just thinking about the overrated Stelvio either, but anyone know if it's a bit late in season or whether mid sept is a better bet? cheers!

I'm looking for breakdown cover for a European road trip later this year (France & Spain) but online comparison sites seem to balk at the age of my Elise. It's been one of the most reliable cars I've ever owned, but still......I'd like cover just in case! Any recommendations, or experience of same? TIA Adam

Well seeing as the Suns been out, me and the wife decided to take a few days off work and head down to North Wales to take in the "Evo Triangle" and Llanberis Pass. Set off early Thursday and drove to the hotel to drop the bags off. We stayed at the Groes inn at Conwy. Evo magazine stay here when doing "shoots" in Wales. Would definitely recommend it, great food / room. (Ignore the disabled parking sign, only parked there for the photo lol) Great view to wake up to! Decided to do the "Evo Triangle" the first day, then Llanberis Pass, Snowdonia the second. There's loads of reviews about the "Evo Triangle" so no point doing another. What I will say i…

Newbie here with what's seems a stupid question. Anyone suggest any exige friendly multi-storey car parks in Birmingham? Don't want to get half way up before dragging the car back down each level on the front splitter. Dan

Happy New Year all, and apologies for depressing title but..... I am planning a Euro trip in my S1 Elise in May, it needs a 'Crit air' for France (looks like the S1 is a Grey/Cat5) and Spain looks to have implemented something similar (DTG). Can anyone here share their experiences? How do you navigate/avoid zones (does Google maps support this ,etc). My route is likely to be Calais, through France over Pyrenees, to an area just west of Barcelona returning up the west side of France. It would be too easy to say F I and just take the normal car, but I have a feeling that we should be taking these older cars on trips before they are effectively banned ent…

Please be aware that the law regarding speed cameras in France changed recently, and it is now an offence to have any device that identifies the location of cameras, including POIs in Sat Navs. Radar detectors were banned a while ago but "Les Bleus" have now banned everything basically. The offence is having it so if you go to France ensure that the function in your Sat Nav is switched off before you enter France. The penalty is up to 1500 Euros!!!

Hi guys! I thought these might be of interest to people? When I've been planning my routes, I've found organising them on Google Earth pretty handy. What I've done is download a couple of routes for you to look at to see if they work. All you should have to do is remove the .txt part, then double click the file and it should load into Google Earth (You'll have to download the application first, it's free though). Let me know how you get on! European_Tour_2006.kmz.txt Eurotour_2008.kmz.txt
