Ok so we've got about 2mm left on the rears (just getting to the wear guides) and a Walshy day in October. My question is "How much rubber can I expect to have left at the end of the Walshy day?" Am I going to be ok to drive back to Nott, as I don't intend taking it to Horizon for new ones till the Saturday after?

Anyone suffered from this on an S1 Elise?: Yesterday, whilst driving through Loughborough (as it happens) my 2000 S1 started suddenly making a god-awful rattle/buzz at 1800 revs only, powering up and coasting down. I already have the recognised 2500 rpm 'tizz' and was due to get the bracket fitted on my next service in October, but this seems to be a much more violent variety. I thought the exhaust had blown at first, but it is only @ the 1800 rpm point, and echoes all around the cabin. It is hardly present when the engine is cold, increases with temperature, but continues to increase once my usual 84C has been reached - as if a part in the engine compartment i…

Guys, Gals, what ride height's are you using? I'm after S2 susp and am not sure what height to go for? Steve Butt's running 100/110 with the extended diffuser like me, and says he has no probs Scotts running 110/120 and grounds occasionally Graeme is running 110/120 (if I remember correctly) and catches mudflaps occasionally like Scott Black Swan, what were you running? as it sat nicely when I saw your car on Sun! Cheers Dave

Radio fitting and glass mounted aeriels I've recently bought a DAB/MP3 unit to replace the crappy clarion thing which came with the car and it has an external glass mounted aeriel. Anyone else fitted one of these? If so, where is the best place for the aeriel since it appears that it will go pretty much anywhere. Anyone fitted one and found that there's lots of interference in a particular place? Also really struggling to find any straightforward instructions for fitting or even removing the old system on an S2 111s - plenty of S1 instructions about. Anyone point me in the right direction. The FAQ on seloc is S1 only as far as I can tell so even removing the old …

I think my pads will need changing on my next service, did a quick search on the forum and it seems that the recommendation is with the RS14's, but some are saying the Greenstuffs. Bearing in mind this will mainly be for road use, and with standard discs.... Also looked at the 1144's - any good? Had them on my GTi and they were pretty good, but only seemed to show their full potential at higher temperatures. Recommendations please

Hi all Thanks for everyone's advice as to where to take my 3yr old S2 for a service and a fix (wouldn't start). I took Scott's advice & went to Horizon in Birmingham deciding that a dealer stamp isn't so important any more. I can happily say that it was the best customer service I have ever had (my car has been to 3 offical dealers), they fixed my car, serviced it & MOT'ed for at least the a third of the price of a dealer (that's a guess but judging from past experience...). Not only that they very kindly picked it up and redelivered it for me (I was in Nottingham at the time) for just the price of the petrol. Basically, thanks to all & Horizo…

I've just tried to start my baby after a week or so of sitting on the drive. However instead of turning over I get a racheting / clicking noise from the engine compartment followed by the sound of something electric resetting. Now it's been sat for over a week because I was getting a hideous squeeling from the engine bay, which I put down to a loose alternator belt. Could it be that my battery is so discharged it can't crank the engine over? The dashboard lights up correctly though.

I've just had the above forwarded to me in an email... sounds slightly alarming! I have spoken to Mike about it as i had them fitted 3 weeks ago... he assures me that the std P-Clip does actually have a rubber insert so should prevent the above happening, it may occur if the rubber insert has gone missing though.. so might be worth you folks checking your cars. Thanks to Emma for sending it

Does anyone know of any upgrades required for the headlights on a MK2 Elise? As soon as I have to dip my headlights the visability is severely decreased, so night driving is an absolute nightmare! I have spoken to Mike at Horizon who is going to look into it for me as he doesn't know of any at the moment. Cheers, Steve

Ok, bit of a strange one this, i've managed to knock this off with my head ( Dont ask and yes it did hurt ), but i cant get it to go back on very well, i've tried those sticky pads from halfords but they seem to have a sponge middle and the vibration was terrible, couldn't see a thing, any one got any suggestions, if not i have to autowindscreens and ask them nicely to please glue it ??

OK so I decided to try and do it myself. The idea was to learn a bit more about what's under the skin of the beast. 1. Took the middle undertray off 2. Tried to take the rear undertray off, but couldn't undo one of the centre allen key bolts as I didn't have the right size key in my tool box 3. Took the rear grills off to get a better view 4. Grills were rusting, so cleaned them up and painted 5. Looked at CRP, looked at what I though was the Cat 6. Scratched head as they looked completely different fittings 7. Realised what I thought was the Cat was nothing of the sort and just some flexy bit in the exhaust 8. Found the Cat right infront of my eyes be…

So er, 5:35pm Monday, pissing down, HARD (the rain not me). Funny whiring sound, wiper arm takes vertical poition on windscreen and refuses to usher any further moisture from said pissing down environment. You pays Smithys Motors a bundle of cash and a kidney, and the cheapo nasty Spanish marked wiper motor/ mechanism/ idea goes tits up on first real use. Took the plastic cover off - Great help ! - that will be the motor then. No mechanism movment, some noise going on in the motor, not fused, wiper arm does move across screen freely and eccentric motion of wiper mechanism cam seems free, but feels disjointed from wiper motor shaft (maybe) Nowt else o…
