On most (normal) cars, rotating the tyres, side to side - front to rear evens out the tyre wear and used to form part of the routeen maintenance. Anyone got an opinion on rotating the brake disk on the Elise. My disks are nearing the limit (24mm) on the front, and whilst I would like to replace all 4 with those sexy ali belled ones, I was thinks or swapping front to rear and spending the money on doing 2 days at Spa next month instead. Pads should be good for one more round of abuse... Any opinions..

Does anyone know if there is a significant increase in wind resistance with the hood down? Seems to be alot of wind buffeting at the rear screen, especially on the motorway, and I remember Mr Clarkson saying how much petrol consumption increases in a regular car if you wind the windows down... Its not gonna stop me putting the hood down but I just wondered. I assume the Elise design was put through the wind tunnel?

Bloody thing.................a few times in the past when i've turned the car off the key has come out and the car has kept running, had to put it back in and wiggle it to stop it, however today the key wouldnt come out, finally came out and now it wont go back in and turn, something is jammed in there, feels like its going to break and the ignition lights dont come on anymore, got to ring bramalls and get them to come and get it, its under warranty still, Thats why i was going to fit the starter button, to take the strain of the key

Hi all, One of my front fog lamps has become extremely loose. The bolt that holds it in place does not fall out completely and so fortunately the lamp has not fallen off but I have no idea as how to access the bolt to tighten it. Is this an easy thing to access and fix or do i need to pay through my nose and take it to a garage ?

Looking at an Emerald, but QED go in the other direction with DTA, which fits with my idea of D2HTB's. Anyone got any data log results they are willing to share ? We are going to dual drive in the Curborough 2005 Sprint Championship next year, tons of mods free in class 2L (Lotus up to 2.2L) come on you dudes and dudettes, lets get some of you on a competing run - the circuit ! Looking to set the electronics to cope with whatever way we go engine mods. Tyres, brakes, and susp first, but want to go 3D engine map really. (Yes I know Ladders, you don't like puffs of smoke up your @rse !) Want to be able to swap MAPS for road use and track use via laptop.…

Okay, so I was bored of working at home today so did some badly needed filing. Found an SELOC post I'd printed off ages ago about fixing radio reception in the elise. So thought I'd have a go. Just done the simple bit of wrapping aluminium sticky tape round the ariel cable from where it goes through the body to where it dissapears down past the expansion bottle. Wow I now can get every radio station in crystal clarity. Cheapest mod yet

Ok so we've got about 2mm left on the rears (just getting to the wear guides) and a Walshy day in October. My question is "How much rubber can I expect to have left at the end of the Walshy day?" Am I going to be ok to drive back to Nott, as I don't intend taking it to Horizon for new ones till the Saturday after?

Anyone suffered from this on an S1 Elise?: Yesterday, whilst driving through Loughborough (as it happens) my 2000 S1 started suddenly making a god-awful rattle/buzz at 1800 revs only, powering up and coasting down. I already have the recognised 2500 rpm 'tizz' and was due to get the bracket fitted on my next service in October, but this seems to be a much more violent variety. I thought the exhaust had blown at first, but it is only @ the 1800 rpm point, and echoes all around the cabin. It is hardly present when the engine is cold, increases with temperature, but continues to increase once my usual 84C has been reached - as if a part in the engine compartment i…

Guys, Gals, what ride height's are you using? I'm after S2 susp and am not sure what height to go for? Steve Butt's running 100/110 with the extended diffuser like me, and says he has no probs Scotts running 110/120 and grounds occasionally Graeme is running 110/120 (if I remember correctly) and catches mudflaps occasionally like Scott Black Swan, what were you running? as it sat nicely when I saw your car on Sun! Cheers Dave

Radio fitting and glass mounted aeriels I've recently bought a DAB/MP3 unit to replace the crappy clarion thing which came with the car and it has an external glass mounted aeriel. Anyone else fitted one of these? If so, where is the best place for the aeriel since it appears that it will go pretty much anywhere. Anyone fitted one and found that there's lots of interference in a particular place? Also really struggling to find any straightforward instructions for fitting or even removing the old system on an S2 111s - plenty of S1 instructions about. Anyone point me in the right direction. The FAQ on seloc is S1 only as far as I can tell so even removing the old …
