The alarm on my S2 is knackered - keeps going off all hours and every time I set it, I get a continuous high pitched tone for about 30 secs, which I'm sure shouldn't happen. It's been back to the Lotus dealer in Sheffield three times and they can't sort it out (or can't be bothered?). I suspect it's dodgy wiring or one / more faulty sensors. Anyone know of a Cobra alarm specialist who could do a proper fault diagnosis? Pref in the Derbyshire, North Notts, South Yorks area? I've tried looking on the Cobra website but it doesn't offer technical support, just has info like dealer locators etc. Cheers

How long are you lot leaving before getting another geo check? Had mine done about 5 months ago, then about 3 month later I got the track reset by Mike (it was way out, apparently) which improved things. However it feels fuzzy again - something that was made more apparent on Ladders Welsh Adventure and I just wondered if 5-6 months was a reasonable time to expect it to 'last'...? We do have some really crappy roads around here, so I suppose that cant help....

I kind of assumed when getting my car that it had some sort of aftermarket air inlet thing fitted (spot the technical jargon) such as a hurricane... I was sadly mistaken! This strikes me as odd as the car has a 135 head on it and I'm sure having a standard filter and so forth must strangle it. So, is a hurricane a good idea, or are there better ones out there for reasonable money?

Does anyone have a piccy of how they shielded their arial from the engine? Just curious as to how it was done, and what was used - tin foil or otherwise...

My Mum has finally got her car, a new shape SLK350! Vroom! Its very comfy, although full of driver aids, as we discovered as it desperately tried to stop wheel spinning as my Mum pulled off the forecourt! GO MUM! (probally a good thing then!) She is considering Jewelultra Diamondbrite which is a paint protection thing?!! It costs £300, guaranteed for 6 years, anyone had any experience of this? Is it good/bad? Thanks Bramble

Collected my S1 around 3weeks ago, first Elise I've had and very pleased with it.......but.......checked the oil the other day and it was a little short from the full so thought I would top it up, but cant remove the filler cap? Am I just been a fool, is there some special way to remove it, all I'm doing is trying to unscrew it? Tried it when cold and when hot, just worried I may do some damage if I give it too much wellie! Can anyone help?

Not that technical I know !! However, I bought my car from Peter Smiths (I didn't know about this website at the time). Anyway, they saw fit to put one of their stickers on the back of the car. I hate the feckin thing and want rid of it. Tried to peel them off - not budging. I remember speaking to Chris at the last Pub meet who removed stickers off his exige but forgot to ask what you use to get rid of them. Any tips guys (don't want to damage the paintwork) Matt

I kerbed my N/S rear wheel avoiding an ambulance ( I thought i'd better oblige having just seen the motorcyclist spread across the road!). Now the lacquer is flaking away, is there anyway of repairing this or at least stop it flaking anymore?

Hi, Not been checking the forum for a little while - just started new job and there is no internet access at all. Not sure about this work thing at all. Anyway, moved into new house a couple of weekends ago. Was driving down following Emma in the van and I heard a really load bang and saw something come flying over the roof. Think it must have been a conker or something from the noise. It hit the nose just on the flat bit above the grill before it gets any angle otherwise would probably have bounced off. As it is its completely cracked the gel coat and I can see fibre glass below it. Should I get this sorted asap or can it wait till the new year when I'm not…

Car has been pretty much faultless since I have had it (3 whole weeks now) Only problem is steering wheel judder between 75 and 85 mph. Its quite pronounced so I assume wheels not balanced properly or tracking out?? Is there anywhere near Notts that can sort this out ??

Just noticed that the inside of the headlamp covers are misting up, although only the bottom couple of inches. Any ideas - Tighten the retaining screws of the covers maybe ?? Otherwise I'll get someone to look at it when I decide where to go for my new tyres. Steven

So - the tyre saga continues. I called Horizon today to see if they can get me some new rear A048's. They told me that Lotus Cars Ltd have sole distribution rights to these tyres from Yokohama, and that the only place you can get them is from Lotus Cars Lts or their dealer network ???? I will get my car serviced at the factory next year as per the tip from ChrisH, but could do with some new tyres soonish, but don't fancy two trips to the factory. Any ideas ?

This happened a while back, but I wasn't too worried as its the pass side. The felt lined rubber piece, which sits inside the door, came up with the glass, so as its was jamming the window I pulled it completely out. It must be the bit that the glass sits in when inside the door, to shield it from the guide.... How does it go back? What kind of glue?!?!? Anyone done this?
