In Halfrauds today getting a new sponge and car wash liquid, and noticed in their sale a nice shiny aluminium extinguisher - was £36 now £25, and good till end 06. So I bought it !! Now - can I mount the holder with a couple of self-tapping screws into the aluminium plate infront of the passenger seat, or does it need to bolt into something ? Thanks in advance.

A complete bugger to remove. Anyone local got a handy crank locking tool I could borrow for a couple of evenings or perhaps a sketch of an appropriate tool? Currently the car is on ramps, wheel arches out and everythings ready to go.......except the 'wedge the screwdriver' technique does not appear to be a winner and there is too much movement in the transmission to use the 'handbrake-and-in-gear' technique successfully. I'd do the startermotor technique, only if I can't hold the flywheel to undo the nut then I don't feel happy about doing it up properly when the time comes. Therefore I'm after a crank locking tool. Ok, got the choice of a V or W rating on the Potenzas so naturally was expecting the W rating to be more expensive (as it's rated to higher speeds). However, the V rating is £5 more expensive than the W. Am I missing something here?

After checking my Tyres the rears are on the wear indicators and the fronts not far off (whats the law here?? are they illegal if they are on the wear indicator?), so i'm biting the bullet and getting some T1R's. My question is, will i need to watch out for anything going from the smaller 185/205 to the T1r 195/225?? also whats the best way to scrub them in? cheers guys.

Fitted my hurricane today Sounds brilliant and feels more responsive, now i just have to wait for the skin to grow back on my knuckles and i might be able to steer properly. Thumbs up to Geary for sorting out the bent/broken bits so quickly.

My early S1 has a boot bag. There's a carpet set on e-bay, is it worth it? And since it ends Sunday at 18h00 does anyone know what this costs from Lotus? The main reason for wanting it is cos then my softop and the rails etc can fit in the boot, instead of behind the seats. Will it work? If so, is this set worth it? Hi, im a new member to the forum and have a big problem. I have a 135R and the head as gone for the second time. The car is only 14 months old and has 6000 miles from new. Does anyone know Lotus,s stand point on this I am getting sick of this. I love the car , it drives great but im not happy with this continuous problem for a car that cost me a lot of money. My dealer seems to take this as if its quite normal. Any ideas how to approach this wit the dealer. I understand that the original mk1 135 sport was designed by PTP and copied with the Mk2 by Lotus which seems to be a much inferior conversion. Any comments or help would be very welcome.

Ever since i had a new rad fitted (over 12 months now) my temp guage has been a bit strange. It used to sit happily at 87 all the time, now it hovers around 85 - 90 during normal driving, can get up to 98 if sat in traffic after a hard run. However my main concern is if you bury the throttle and use all of the revs available the readout seems to drop quite quickly... using 7k RPM in 1st to 4th in rapid succession i've managed to get the readout showing 70!! It climbs back up very quickly and settles around 85 ish again - but it concerns me. Nothing seems to be wrong, its not using coolant, it runs very well etc. Oh, possibly nothing, but suggests dodgy earth could…

I have finally managed to install my new start button What a game though. I ended up boring out the centre of the spare button with my trusty dremel before fitting the savage starter button into it. I had to be careful not to over do it, but slowly, slowly did it. I think the finished product looks really good. What do you think? Many thanks to Lesstatt (Alan) for the wiring diagram - a life saver!

Turns out my car is (over)due for it's MOT. Since I have a 1st Lotus Day in March I was hoping not to have to put new rear tyres on before then. The tyres are basically down to the wear indicator (May have 1/2 or 1mm to go). What I wanted to know is whether or not the wear indicator is the law for minimun tread and will it fail a MOT on this? I'll probably take it to Horizon for a service and a MOT in the next couple of weeks depending how busy they are. I believe they have a MOT centre nearby them.

As i work down in London most of the week, the Elise gets parked up at work which is 3 miles away from my home. This week the battery charge wasn't enough to turn the engine over, the car hadn't moved for 4 days... I know the battery is a small 12v but, four days isn't long? Does anyone else have this problem? I can also recommend the Richmond portable battery booster, from Halfrauds...
