Got a sports exhaust (its LOUD) & want to get it checked out for volume prior to going on s few track days (signed up with Walshy for training). AT LAST! Any idea where I can get a quick check on the decibel level done in the Derby area? I'm going to Horizon in a few weeks to get the geo checked - can they do it there (I didn't aske them on the phone...) Cheers Mark

Has anyone fitted the QED water-oil cooler to their elise? Enquired about it today and its a fair bit cheaper than the eliseparts one. Is one better than the other or any pro's and con's about each? Cheers Russ

I've just noticed that the standard P0's on my S1 are 205s whilst the Advans I want to get are 225s. Is it still ok to upgrade on standard wheels?

I'm not talking about a lotus here but a mini and since they're both basic engines you could help me! I have had my mini for a while and it has overheated a number of times (which is REALLY getting on my tits!) I've ruled out many things and i think theres a slow coolant leak which evetnually causes the problem. I've paid to have some guy look at it, change this, change that but i had the idea of doing a pressure test to find the leak once and for all. Is it something that is done often? can i do it myself? anywhere near rugby that does them? any help greatly appreciated. steve

Hey all.. had the elise for nearly a week now! and love it... strange how i like driving up town for one drink rather then leaving the old car at home! anyways ive reading through the site looking at upgrading the perforance alittle but will leave that for the tech section... basically how good is the alarm on the s1 its the cat1 alarm with the tear shaped fob, ive seen that quite a few people have had there car stolen... also am thinking about putting a pager system on it so i can catch the buggers in the act if they try! any one got a pager on there car? anyway would appreciate your views... Thanks!

I have an S1, the drivers side headlamp bracket has corroded and needs to be replaced. I called Christopher Neil and they wanted to charge me £180 plus Vat for the pleasure of fixing it. Considering you can buy the part for 20 quid I will do this myself, does anybody have experience of changing this bracket?

My baby's been off the road for a few months whilst its been naff weather and I've been saving the pennies. I've been driving it around once a fortnight to keep everything ticking over but on one occasion I let it go too long and the battery went totally flat. After charging it up I found that setting the alarm caused a constant beep sound, tried resetting the keyfob thingy and this didnt work, am puzzled. The car's in at Horizon for a C service at the mo and they cant fix it either! Any ideas?, its a cobra alarm, immobiliser seems to work fine, (i.e the battery light starts to flash as it should after 30 secs and the indicators go at that time too). Also, am …

Hi guys and gals, I'm now a proud owner of a 111S Elise! Well I would be proud if it wasn't sat on my drive broken! I even had it checked over by horizon yesterday. I'd appreciate any help you can give on this...? Car was fine leaving Brum, through town and then onto the motorway. An hour and a half later I pull off the motorway and have to stop at some traffic lights and take car out of gear. Lights change and now can't get the car into first, or second, or any gear at all! Basically the gear stick will not move into any gear. Eventually got it into third and could set off, and then eventually got into fifth. At the next three junctions to get home I had t…

My standard Elise S1 has a sports exhaust. I've just bought the car and the dealer has given me the option of exchanging for a standard exhaust if I want, because at the time I said I preferred the look of a twin-pipe rather than the fitted upgrade which is a single oval. Now I've driven for a while, I've realised the exhaust is ******* loud. I'm not expecting normal car volumes, but my stereo is currently a waste of time apart from when I'm sat in traffic. Will a standard exhaust be much quieter anyway? What will I be losing out on if I remove the sports exhaust, apart from noise and about 2bhp (apparently)? Thoughts and opinions, please.

Everytime I depress the clutch pedal it sounds like I'm treading on a cat, the sqeak is getting worse, I've tried spraying WD40 but the sqeak always returns. Someone told me I may need a new bush?! Can anyone advise me if this will cure this irritation, and if leaving it will do any harm? Also is it something that can be replaced/corrected easily?
