Looking at where some of the new members are from, there are a few from quite far away from the midlands (like Switzerland, for example). What I want to know is who's been over doing it with the calling cards? Wuddie and I reckon that if we'd had the sense to take any with us to Stoneleigh yesterday, we could have had the servers melting down in no time. Oh, and by the way, welcome new peeps Kristian

Great day had by all, another well run SELOC track day. Shame the rain came just before lunch, just as most were getting used to the track. Still made the afternoon interesting Good to see Daveman, Craig and a few others from MLOC. Was leaving just as they were pulling the boxster from the gravel

After some more advice, Two things irritating me at the moment: 1. Under slight acceleration I get a squeal from somewhere at the back. It goes away when more acceleration applied, but comes back when slightly lifting off again. Becomes very annoying when driving quietly in traffic! Sounds similar to a fan belt slipping, or brakes squeaking. Nick Whale's say that it is the exhaust down pipe and they will have to check with Lotus whether it would be covered by the warranty. Is this likely to be the cause? 2. Steering doesn't fully centre and it creaks. NW say that nothing wrong that a geo check won't sort (for a price). Any ideas? I've tried WD40 bu…

Grr... As you know I've got 245 on my aft, 175 on the fronts. Needless to say, it understeers like only an S2 can Coming home from work at 4pm (oh, the wonders of working to school hours ) it was raining, and there's a tight hairpin with good visability and lots of "spin space" should it go wrong. So far, all I've made this car do is understeer. Even in the rain, putting the power down just makes it understeer - lots. So I decided to see what it takes to make this car go sideways. Answer? Lots. Into the bend, on the power - front pushes wide, off the power then back on again...and - lets just say I'm not going to be trying that too often Snappy is…

This seems to happen with all too frequency. I rest my forearm across the steering wheel as I heave myself up and I go toot! Which is very embarrassing, as everyone seems to think I am trying to draw attention to myself, whilst usually when I get out of the car, I would rather stumble up unnoticed.... Whilst I try desperately to get out without this happening, every once in a while I forget and go TOOt! again. My other 'classic' style manuver on exciting the car, is to catch the back of my left foot on the steering wheel and jolt forward hopping! With the top off, I always forget to disarm the alarm and get in to blaring horns! I am this cool! …

The Elise Effect 1 2

Just been reading a thread on Seloc about what people have done in normal cars after drving their Elise, One of the examples was: driving a golf TDI and not being able to hear the engine screaming as its being Redlined, (obviously being used to the noise of the elise engine) So what have you guys noticed, not noticed, felt while driving or being a passenger in a normal car. I'll start it off. While being a Passenger in any make of car, i noticed myself grabbing on to the rail above the door while going round corners to steady myself as the body roll and seats made it feel as though i was falling over.

Has anyone had one of these conversions done yet, or been in a car which has? Looking at the difference between a 140 and a 150 by February next year i would have all of the parts which comprise the difference - the induction kit, the complete exhaust, manifold (ok i'd have a std cat - but that could change!) and for £795 for the kit and £200 fitting (plus probably have a C Service done for the £150) that doesn't amount to much to give the alledged 159Bhp that seems to have been dyno'd on a few cars with the 150 kit.... the 144lb/ft of torque would be ncie too. However, are they good, I am guessing from SELOC that Owen is greatly respected and therefore the kit is…

I had a bath in the Elise this afternoon, tuning up to work looking like a soggy trout. And yes, the hood was up Arse of the matter is, I can't see where the water is getting in, but its dripping from the top of both A-Pillars. Any suggestions?

What a fantastic day out. Great to see Graham and Steve out there having a go, Steve looked like he was getting faster and faster as each lap passed Highlight of the day for us all must have been lapping the Boxsters Nothing to with the fact they were very slow of course, we simply must be great drivers Thanks to Kris for coming along to watch on what turned out to be a bloody cold day. I think I need more power or more Walshy days, Mark A always seems to be quicker than me. Can't wait for the next one. Mike

Well I had a cracking day, one thing to note though before description: Toyo's albeit good on road are shite on track, they were overheating within 10 mins and grip was going downhill rapidly i also have folded over melted bits on the grooves Anyhoo, my car performed really well (when the tyres were working!) one concern was the brakes, after a hard session and a short break to cool the car the brakes took a while to get back up to temperature and worried me a couple of times! I also noticed that there was a little too much roll for my liking when cornering on some of the more open corners - not a major problem at all as there was plenty of feel, but i felt …
