Gidday to everyone. Just been out watching all the dragons etc. I'm based in Indonesia at the moment flying all the pilgrims to Mecca and back. Missing the lotus but there's now way I'd want to drive it out here. The drivers are the most crazy I've seen anywhere in the world!!! Cheers Peter

Blimey. I've just got in and I'm still a bit shaky... It was nearly game over. I'd just been enjoying myself down my fave 'scenic route' home, thinking how great the car was. But then I overtook someone, and as I powered past (3/4 throttle, 3rd or 4th gear, 60mphish) the back end was all over the place. Luckily it didn't come to anything and fortunately made me slow down and collect my thoughts. At the next few corners the front right was skidding under relative minor braking and the back end kept stepping out as I accelerated relatively gently. I pulled up, convinced something awful had happened to the car or I had developed 4 punctures all at once. The road…

Ladders Did you get that e-mail from Owen regarding crossings and so on? What are you thinking regarding ferry/eurostar? Either option seems OK for the Thursday-Monday plan. I suppose that we don't have to tell him yet but I can't be arsed sorting out crossings and so on myself, so will probably go for one of the alternatives that are on offer with race-speed. What do you reckon? Simon (G) - are you convoying down? Kristian Apologies to everyone who this doesn't concern, but not that sorry since I'm a bit chuffed that I'm going as it happens...

M6 Toll Road 1 2

Folks Anyone used the new toll road yet? I have done over the past couple of days and I am well impressed. Just drove back from Cumbria today and usually have a really grim time getting held up in Brum right at the end of the journey Today just went through no bother at all at the peak of the rush hour. Very quiet on there and for two quid I am quite happy if it saves me an hour and a bit of 'queue rage'. I suspect that the coppers (or scamera scumbags) will take a bit of an interest before long though as the beemers and so on seem to think it's the autobahn! Kristian

Got home last night to find my Elan +2 on the drive It isn't finished yet (in fact it looks no different to when it went to the garage about 7 years ago..) but the guy needs his garage space to do something. Interesting as we now have nowhere to put it (apart from outside - which is bad) Any suggestions.... The other option of course is (feelers time) if we can't store it anywhere, would anyone (or know anyone who may) be interested in buying the car in its curent condition and taking over the restoration. Its been in the family since 1971, but i/we don't have the time to finish it.. so if anyone would be interested in an Elan +2 with all the bits needed fo…

Since I've had my Elise it seems that so many people feel as though they have to pove to me that there car can go faster than mine especially boy racers! People driving right up my arse trying to get past and just basically being total idiots! I never had this in my other cars Anyone else get this?

I've had a low mileage (15,500mles) 1998 S1 for about a year now. I bought it off someone I knew, who, like me has/had it as a second car, so know the mileage is genuine in addition to which I have all the bills and MOT's etc. It's last "A" service though was July 2002, when the mileage was 13,500 so I know I am overdue for a service on the time factor alone. The next one in the book is the B service but don't know whether I actually need a "C" service instead, or can a Cam belt change wait another year? Advice appreciated, thanks.

Went to a car supermarket today to look at a new (DC5) Integra Type-R, import. Was listed for £17,499 with 9000miles on the clock. Couldn't drive it as its in the showroom, but out of interest I asked how much they'd give me in p/x with the Elise. They couldn't find the 160 listed in their books, did alot of phoning around, had a look around it etc. He asked how much I wanted for it. I gave him the optimistic figure of £17k (I only payed £17.5 for it 4 months ago) and he laughed. "The best we can do is £13,500" he said. "They get hard to sell after they've done £15k miles" (erm, yeah). He told me that Lotus would only give them £13k for it to buy it. Appa…

Just to say thanks to everyone for an excellent day - especially Steve for organising. Me and Rich (my mate who tagged along) really enjoyed it. Highlights? Steve nudging me off on the my final race, denying me a place in the final...I'll get you next time But by far the best bit was me jostling with Scott after Steve overtook - the rivalry finally making its way to the track For two laps we were side by side, overtaking and undertaking, fighting for the line.... .......but on the last and most important bend, he just got in the lead All in all, a most enjoyable day. Good to finally meet some of you and put faces to names. Roll on the next one.…
