All, Please bear with me, I've recently had a life change and now have the opportunity to own an Elise which I've dreamed of for years but could never justify one. I've followed the Elise since it was first conceived and was lucky enough to visit the factory as part of the Lotus 50th anniversary. Question is.......what are the pro's and con's of owning one (I've driven one on a track day so know the handling capability and if I wanted comfort I'd be buying a Porsche Cayman), I would be using this as a weekend car (I commute by train) and it would have to sit on my drive (don't have a garage). I'd be considering the S3, 220 bhp Toyota SC, with hard top for the winter …

Following my previous post earlier in the year I am now about to push the button on an Elise S3 subject to sealing the deal, so excited. I will be joining the club once purchased and I'll try and get to the "meets" once my kids Sunday football has stopped (hopefully the weather will have improved by then). A few questions/topics I'm interested in: 1 - My car will unfortunately be on the drive, not in a garage, is ensuring the car is polished/ceramic coated enough to protect the paintwork or is it worth getting paint protection film to stop moisture in the paintwork (a known issue on early Elise's). I will get a full cover for winter hibernation. 2 - Car security…

Anybody know a decent place to get some restitching done on an Elise S1 soft top - ideally in the Midlands. Just a bit of stitching on the header rail it seems (the bit that contains the plastic strip).

Evening all . Bad weather has stopped us driving , but not tinkering . Decided to fit a harness bar to the S1 and the momo slightly smaller wheel we purchased at the end of last season . harness bar - does anyone have a pic , close up ideally of how the bar(eliseparts item) sits in the car once bolted in , has anyone retained the seatbelts alongside a set of harnesses ? steering wheel -how the the good f#%%#. Do you get the original off . Removed the nut and fixing washer so the threaded spline is visible and the metal collar that appears to sit behind it , but no amount of persuasion with hands , mallets , and a home made puller is havivg any effect other t…

I consider Badger jnr a member of MLOC as he's been to LITP (the full weekend) and a number of our ride outs. It's his 13th bday today. Raise a drink/paw tonight for him.

Afternoon all from sun lounger in north Wales . whilst I ponder whether to go paddle boarding or open a beer I thought I would ask the below as some of you know my lad has been working on a mini / mid restoration on an S1 and it should be ready for the road next week . despite him been sensible, and unfortunately one of his pals writing off his newly restored mx5 after 5 days on the road …… , I figured he , and for sure I , could benefit from a lotus specific training day away from the open road to learn the handling character of the car and how to recover if things go a bit squirrelly. I am aware of the car limits /Walshy days , but the web si…

Final part of my winter upgrades , after the cv boots , tyres , headlight refresh etc is a new pair of 4 or 5 point harnesses to go with my lovely new tillet B5’s . My sabelt 4 points have moved with my seats into Ethan’s Elise and the fitting plates for the tillets now require the clip type fitting for the harness . I have ordered new fittings for my harness bar so just need to decide which route to take and hope the MLOC massive can advise . Are 5 points harness worthwhile, as I use mainly on the road plus the odd track day . not sure what additional parts I would need to purchase and fit to secure the 5th between the legs strap . Any brands I should avoid ? …

Hi all. This is an appeal on behalf of a good friend with an s2 Elise. He wants - or rather needs - to get his Bilstein dampers refurbed at Bilstein but he will obviously need to send them off and the Elise is his daily driver. So my question is, does anyone have any spare or old dampers tucked away that he could rent or borrow or buy? He's a good lad my friend and has done a lot for MLOC over the years including making the original Lotus in the Peak film and designing one of the LitP posters. If anyone can help I'd be very grateful. Thanks folks 🙂 Dean
