This is the build thread for my Lister Bell Stratos. It will be a long and arduous thread I'm sure! I want to build something like this: Lister Bell is a small company near Newark that build a Stratos replica kit called the STR. The owner is ex-Ultima and ex Gardner Douglas. http://www.listerbell.com/ Steel spaceframe chassis: GRP body. It's a very comprehensive kit: Aluminium uprights, double wishbone front suspension, custom exhaust with built in cats, replica 'coffin spoke' alloys, air con and lots of other nicely made bits. Although they do a version that will use a Ferrari V8 and a version that takes the Yota V6 (a la Evora / Exige) the most popular ch…

What do you guys reckon. I saw this: http://www.hiltonandmoss.com/cardesc/lotus-esprit-s4-75 It's the price I could pay for an Elise, but it's not an Elise. Would it be a great ownership experience, or will I have to get a season ticket on the tow truck? Will it cost as much to run as a Kia Picanto, or as much as a Veyron? I have to say, I'm tempted.

OK, the Exige is off the road undergoing a suspension refresh and my fickle mind is already cheating on it. Although I'll never sell it (and I truly mean that), I'm drawn to cars of similar value that offer similar excitement. My current crush is the Lister Bell Lancia Stratos replica. The full kit costs £30k, then you need to find a 3.0 Alfa to donate its engine and identity, then you end up with a 70's wedge with lots of lights and garish colour schemes. And a chance for the back end to overtake the front if you even think of lifting off. As Lister Bell are registered in Farndon, Newark, I wonder if any of you have any experience with the car or company? Cheers…

Popped into Nick Whale Sports cars today and had a good look around the new Lotus Europa S. I must say that it looks really good and the build quality seem to have stepped up a notch I am even thinking about trading in the Exige for one I am that impressed. Got to go for a spin in it to see what I really think about it. Hopefully I will have done so by the weekend and will post my thoughts here for you Anyway, John pulled the car out so that I could take a few quick snaps and post some pictures of it for everyone on MLOC. So here are some pictures.

Well, my elise dream is over. I'm sure you've all seen the pictures by now - that once lovely 111S under the Audi A8 was mine. I was still in the car when that picture was taken. I've admitted blame, no point denying anything here. Traffic was moving at a fairly slow pace (I honestly couldn't say how much, but I'd guess around 30 - 40ish) when all of a sudden everything stopped. I braked hard but obviously saw it all too late and smashed into the back of the audi. There was a bloody big bang and the next thing I know there's an A8 on top of me. I didn't have the roof on at the time. The windowscreen caved in and ended up resting on the steering wheel but the pass…

Lotus in the Peak 2022 takes place over the weekend of 8th to 10th July 2022. We are very proud to announce that this year’s event is in aid of Rainbows Hospice for children and young people with life limiting illnesses. Have a look at rainbows.co.uk/about-rainbows to see the incredible work they do. All profits will be passed on to this very deserving charity. The event has a similar format to previous years but with the main event on Sunday 10th returning to Chatsworth House, as one of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire’s chosen supported charities for 2022. The best way to enjoy LitP is to make a long weekend of it and enjoy the Peak District and Derbyshir…

Hello Everyone I am currently a Mazda 6 MPS owner, having had a Subaru Impreza WRX, and prior to that a Subaru Impreza Turbo 2000. I am now looking at a car to replace the MPS. Having grown up with a grandad who owned a Lotus Elan S3 SE, I have a built-in love for all things Lotus. However, it's only now that I can consider owning one, from a price perspective. I am looking at the base model Lotus Elise - I fancy a change (total change), moving to something light weight and more fun. My questions: 1) I have now got used to permanent 4WD, and have never owned a RWD or rear-engined car. WIll the transition be smooth, or do people recommend any tuition…

First day of no pubs, no coffee shops, restaurants etc. Spent a fair few hours driving round the empty country roads in the Lotus with no particular place to go. My 6 year old came to, and whizzed around until he was actually sick. Been to Halfords and spent too much money on car care shit. Tomorrows highlight- washing the car 😕 How has everyone else filled their time?

I've been working with Hanger111 to come up with an extended 5 element rear diffuser for the S2 Elise and Exige. I had seen these ones over in the States, but by the time you add in shipping they come in at the best part of £700 http://www.difflow.com/5element.html There was a discussion over on Exiges.com where quite a few of them were looking at bulk ordering, however the shipping price made it uneconomical. So I thought I'd talk to Hangar 111 and see what they could come up with. My requirement was an extended diffuser, ie sticks out the back a little further, extra two elements in the middle and also the fins are a little longer. Overall making a more ag…

So last September I purchased my 5th Elise S1, almost 20 years since I bought my first one back in the day. It's a high mileage example, but had recently had a part restoration done by the previous owner, including a full suspension refurb with new Nitrons, Ally Radiator and all new brakes with Ultimax Turbo discs, amongst several other things. However I knew when I bought it that I’d need to spend some time (and money) getting it right, but the “no brainer” price I paid and taking into account what had already been done meant I was up for the challenge... This thread will be long and photo heavy......especially the first post as I’m playing catch up…..but that's …

I contacted Lotus Network Development today to ask if they were planning to set up a new franchise in the East/West Mildands area any time soon. To my surprise and delight I was told that Central Lotus will be opening up in Nottingham next month. Their details will be put on the Lotus Cars website shortly. Hopefully they'll do a discount for MLOC members!

I looked at a Elise 135r at Paul Matty sports cars yesterday which I am seriously interested in . Has anybody bought a car from them? What was their customer service like? What did you think about the 3 month warranty? How much could I expect to knock off a 18k (£17995 or £17999?) car with them or what extras would they throw in? At the moment I am trying to gauge the deal with them against buying private.
