  1. In that case I'd go with Option 1. PJS Sportscars (Lotus Specialist) have used them and rate them apparently.

    Newbie

Hi Jack. I'm on my second Elise. The first, a 111R, had 189bhp from the 1.8 Litre Toyota screamer. Had the chip changed for the sport one which smoothed the shift onto the second cam, and also lowered the change point to about 5700 rpm. Never had any trouble with the engine and never needed an oil topup in 65k miles. Power lacklustre below 4k. Rev limiter set at 8200!!! Now on a Series 3 with a supercharger. Much more usable around town, power from very low down. Revs to 6,700 before the rev limiter kicks in. Heel and toe no fun in an S3 as engine management doesn't let you use the brake and accellerator at the same time. ANy questions then PM me. Happy Hunting. PS I'm in Matlock if you want a closer look.
  3. Bicester Bodyshop in ... err ..Bicester. Did the front clam on the previous Elise. Simon always used them when he was at Brook Kensington.
  4. Thanks Neil. I'll be in touch with him after Christmas.
  5. Hi All I'm looking for an experienced Auto Electricain in the Matlock/Bakewell/Chesterfield area. Seems to be difficult to find one who hasn't at some point got a review which goes along the lines of 'cost me a lot of money and didn't fix the problem'. Obviously keen to avoid this scenario. Not Lotus related (thank goodness!). Any pointers much appreciated. Hartley
  6. Try Paul at PJS Sportscars. Lots of Elans in the workshop last time I was there.

    Oakmere

Been a while since I've used Oakmere in Northwich. Had an issue with the soft top, one of the retaining lugs 'lost' it's return spring. Still (just!) under warranty. Had to leave the roof with them and hope that they didn't take an age to repair to replace/repair it. Got a call less than a week later, all fixed and ready to collect. Unusual problem as the said spring had broken. No one else, including Oakmere, had seen that issue before. Dealt with it very well and deserve recognition for it. No hassle repair. Just hope that it doesn't happen again when its out of warranty. Nice folk to deal with too.
  8. Autotek in Cromford are good. He has experience of painting G/F although not used him for the Elise.
  9. David J is also going and will be bringing the Elan.
  10. This mini Caffine & Machine in Derbyshire (Baslow Rd, Eastmoor, Chesterfield S42 7DA) is holding a Lotus Breakfast Meet on Saturday 12th August. Book a place online at : https://www.ignitioncarsandcoffee.co.uk/. Cost £0.00 I'm heading for the 9-11.00 slot. Anyone else up for it? I can vouch for the coffee, and the bacon butties smell good although haven't sampled yet.
  11. Luke - Don't worry about tyres or changing anything on the car. Likely it will know its own way round the circuit anyway! (whichever one you choose). Best book some instruction. I used to book 2 for a whole day especially if I didn't know the circuit - one in the morning to help find your way around and another in the afternoon to refine things. One thing I would add is that several circuits do 'evening' sessions, which are shorter and cheaper. Not as much track time admittedly, but less intense than a full day. And finally, I always avoided having 'one last blast' at the end of the day. It can be asking for trouble if you're getting tired, so pack up and go home in one piece rather than do another 20 mins and invite trouble. Would agree about avoiding Cadwell until you've done a few. I always found it took a long time to learn. Donny is good, as is Anglesey (often wettish there though, but a great circuit). Blyton is good and not much to hit! Hartley Photo taken at Croft (another good circuit!)
