  1. I'm capable of doing it myself (and do it on my MGB GT), but Specialist stamps in your Service Book are invaluable if you have to sell. I use my local specialist in Sheffield - David Underwood or enjoy the beautiful scenic drive to Fouldsy at Holmfirth. If you've bought a car with a full specialist Service History Dave, I think it would be a false econiomy to start doing it yourself. Most 'Indys' labour charges are reasonable anyway and the last time I saw a PJS advert, they were very reasonable too.
  2. I remember years ago, when the bonnet on SWMBO's Elise had sufferred microblistering and I was looking at their stand at the Classic Car Show at the NEC. Very impressive, then I felt a movement in my wallet as my credit card attempted to do a runner when I saw their prices!
  3. Ah I see, so moisture has a conduit to penetrate quickly from underneath. The TVR forums are full of posts about not covering cars as it causes microblisters, something I have first hand experience of unfortunately. I'm not sure if I replied to your post on another forrum, but Brendan at Concept Performance in the 'go to' man in TVR circles for painting. Hes at Meden Vale, just off the A60 07815 101096
  4. Out of interest, did the 'OP' - CDM2018 store the car outside with a cover on?

Here's Mandy's engine bay. Looks like a new Throttle Body to me! I've not been to Fouldsy for a while as the MOT tester he uses got really fussy about emissions on the Sport 190, which resulted in Chris having to re-map the Emerald on-line with Emerald themselves, which really cocked it up resulting into an expensive trip to a local rolling road. I use David Underwood at Eckington now, who is like a local 'Gav'!

Hmm that could explain alot. SWMBOs S1 is a standard 118 bhp car (supposedly), but it came with a dyno test result of 135 bhp. I've noticed it seems quicker 'off the mark' than my Sport 190. I seem to recall many moons ago, Jody mentioned it may have had an undocumented throttle body upgrade. May have to do a size comparison with another standard S1 on our next outing.

I think the days of 'fragility' of the engine are long gone. The original head gasket wasn't up to the job, but I suspect every S1 out there will have had theirs replaced by now. If you are getting a K series, you need to ensure it has been changed, by whom and replaced with a 'payen' one. Assuming the Yota engine is the same as in my Celica GT, the 140-90 bhp range 'kicks in' at about 6K revs when the Celica is screaming, so it must be very loud in an Elise, whereas the progression is much more linear in a K Series. Get a Sport 190 and become part of an exclusive club 😃

I wonder if his facial expression will look anything like mine when you took me for a quick spin in 'Tigger' 😁?
  9. A great looking purchase and a nice garage set - swap photos 😃? Dont know how you fit in all your wheeling and dealing and restoring into your life!
  10. Good plan matey - we did that on 'Eleanor' and she still looks smart 10 years later as its very hardwearing
  11. Cheers Dunc. I traded it in for the blue Lotus Elise in 2007 and it went to the President of the French Club Lotus . Ironically its probably my least favourite!
  12. Here we go in Chronological Order!
  13. Try John at Hawleys here in Sheffield. He makes custom exhausts https://www.protyre.co.uk/garages/hawleys-tyres-hillsborough-sheffield-holme-lane#services
  14. Looking good! I wouldn't Hammerite them though as it chips off just like powder coating. We've just got a thin layer of waxoyl on ours, but we don't run them in the wet.
  15. Come up to Sheff and see Neil Grayson matey. The best of the best. Tell him Andy Moore sent you. Address: 2 Ulverston Rd, Woodseats, Sheffield S8 0NY Hours: Open ⋅ Closes 5:30 pm Phone: 0114 258 9225
