So Whats The Best S1 Exhaust?

Dixie

Recommended Posts

My Exhaust snapped on me yesterday (Right in the middle of a track day!!!). Turns out it's rotten to buggery so it looks like i'm in the market for another.

What seems to be the best? The Elise parts one is a bit to noisey (And expensive) which only leaves the Hanger 111 exhaust.

Any ideas where i can get some others from? How much are Larini ones?

Oh, and if anyone has an old second hand system lying around i could be interested.

Thanks.

I've just ordered my Larini exhaust which IMHO is the best.. I've spoke to Larini and they sent me some stuff through. See Below.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your e-mail enquiry. We welcome the chance to supply you with one of our high performance, stainless steel exhaust systems. Our 'Sports' System for the S1 is a 'Gentleman's Sports Exhaust' whereas our 'Club Sport' system is lighter and louder.

‘Club Sport’ pipework diameter size is increased for optimal flow, which does raise the volume levels, but sounds absolutely FANTASTIC! As more sound-damping materials are utilized for construction of the ‘Sports’ exhaust, retail cost is higher. Both systems have been designed to work with or without catalysts.

We can offer you the following:

1. Lotus Elise S1, Larini 'ClubSport' System = £296.00 plus Vat = £347.80

2. Lotus Elise S1, Larini 'Sport' System = £350.00 plus Vat = £411.25

* Delivery = + £13.50 plus Vat = + £15.86

* All items are in stock. ‘Next Day’ delivery.

1. Lotus Elise S1, Larini 'ClubSport' System:

- Performance Backbox, delivering an extra 7 bhp. approximately.

- Features two 3 inch, Rolled Tailpipes.

- This System fits all model variants of the Elise 1, without any modifications.

- Engineered for maximum flow efficiency, using heavily redesigned 'straight - through' pipe work.

- Produces a fantastic 'note' under acceleration, in keeping with the sporting heritage of Lotus.

- Perfectly practical for everyday use, without suffering from drone or vibration.

- Constructed using aircraft quality T.304 Austenitic Stainless Steel.

- Features Mandrel bent 2.25 inch pipe-work allowing a constant internal diameter, maintaining smooth, constant gas flow.

- 100% Tig welding construction.

- Precision engineered for accurate fit.

- Requires no special procedures to fit.

- Features highly polished box casings, pipework and tailpipes, offering a 'chromium' type finish.

- Every Larini System is supported by the Larini Systems Lifetime Warranty.

Superior Sound - The common complaint with the Lotus Elise 1 is it's 'tinny' sound. We have eradicated this. Our System sounds phenomenal. Using octave band frequency monitoring techniques we have been able to develop a System which produces the Larini 'Note' under acceleration as opposed to the resonance, drone and excessive volume, often present in other performance systems.

Our System does have more volume than the original but it is not offensive. The volume increases with revs so as not to intrude into the cabin, but sounds fantastic when 'pressing on', and is perfectly practical for everyday use.

More Power - On the rolling road our free flow design gives an extra 7 bhp. This is based on customer feedback. Once the 'Sports' system is fitted to your car you will find that the engine is more free-revving and that there is an increase in low-down torque, with an improved throttle response.

Additionally, this system have been developed to run on cars developing 200+ bhp, without restricting power.

Developments such as redesigned internal 'straight-through' silencer pipe work and larger bore pipe work (where necessary), help emit exhaust gasses

quicker - with a reduced build up of back pressure, allowing the engine to 'breathe' and perform better. Expect much, much sharper throttle response.

Mandrel bent pipe-work allows a constant internal diameter, maintaining smooth, constant gas flow, allowing for optimum performance.

Weight - 7 kilograms.

Visible Quality - Features two 3 inch Rolled Tailpipes. Tailpipes, pipe work and box casings are all 'chromium' polished. Our Tailpipes perfectly fit the profile of the rear of all Elise 1 models. Our System features Tig welding and double skinned, ribbed, box cases for maximum durability. The whole exhaust system is ‘Mirror’ finish polished.

From when you first take delivery and open the box you will see the difference.

Ease of Fit - Our System fits perfectly to the 'cat' / de-cat pipe, requiring no special produces or modifications to the car or rear clam shell.

Guarantee - Larini Systems Lifetime Warranty.

2. Lotus Elise S1, Larini 'Sport' System:

Similar gains to the ‘Club Sport’ exhaust

Features Mandrel bent 2.0 inch pipe-work allowing a constant internal diameter, maintaining smooth, constant gas flow.

Offers a calmer soundtrack than the ‘Club Sport’ system.

System fits perfectly to the 'cat' / de-cat pipe, requiring no special produces or modifications to the car or rear clam shell.

Larini Systems Lifetime Warranty.

Re-assurance:

We supply our Systems to car collectors all over the world, such as the Danielli Collection (Italy), the Jordanian Royal Family, and the Alain Bourgeois Heritage (France). Poor fit and finish is not an option with our products. I attach some examples of our work.

All of our exhaust Systems come with our Lifetime Warranty and are designed to fit accurately, look correct and sound authentic. We value our reputation and your driving pleasure. We only develop our Systems to the vehicle, as opposed to just replicating the components off the vehicle.

Recent Larini ‘Standard’ System specialist commissions include a Ferrari 275 GTB Longnose (only 205 built) and a Ferrari 400 Super America (only 47 built).

Recent Larini ‘Sports’ System specialist commissions include a Ferrari 500 Superfast (only 36 built) and the Warner Bros. 2004/5 Batmobile (only 13).

VERY Tempted by the Larini. And it's a little cheaper then the others too, which is nice!

How good is the "Larini sound"????

My current exhaust is in two pieces and being held together by a £5 exhaust fixing jobbie and 2 jubilee clips!! Need one sooner rather than later.

What's the best exhaust for S1? - Larini Club Sport IMHO. Love mine!!!

If you're going to part with lots of cash why not go to a Lotus meet and have a listen at a few different sorts first. Unless of course you can't wait that long

A chap i know recently bought a Brooke Kensington...which looks and sounds very nice...and apparantly it wasn't too expensive compared to some. The chap is called TD on the SELOC site...send him a PM about it.

I was thinking about the new Janspeed Roadsport box...straight thru' system and not too loud when idle or cruising...but nice roar when you put your foot down apparantly!

Here is a photo of the Roadsport:

I brought the Elise parts exhaust for mine, great noise but then had to upgrade the stereo so I could hear music on long journeys. Great for waking the neighbours up at 06:00 of a morning though ;)

I've got the new Janspeed Roadsports on mine, which along with a silenced cat-pipe gave good power results on the Emerald RR.

TBH from what I've seen of the Larini people are paying for the nice finish and the looks of it, all of which are a bit pointless IMHO as it will look like any other exhaust when it's been on the car a month.
