DeanB
Down these parts we trust Gav at Unit 4 Vehicle Services in Burton. He did mine with a multi layer steel Payen replacement. He tells me he has done loads with that type of gasket and not had any back. With new belts, oil, head skim etc it will probably be about £800 but you would obviously need to ask him. Maybe the NYLOC crew would be able to point you towards someone nearer to you though?
Martin R
I would use the Chinese gasket myself. Kiwi rog will do you just a gasket. A short tale. I bought a rather well looked after Rover 45 off a gentleman on here. For next to nothing as it had HGF. I removed the head and had it refurbed for £80. Lobbed it back on with the latest Payen gasket. Knowing full well the liner heights where all over the place. I also knew i could not be arsed to sort it out on a work hack. The HGF fix lasted 1K miles. I lobbed on a Chinese gasket and its now done a further 5K and going well
Jono
Ollie at Phoenix Motorsports, Accrington, is the man. http://phoenixmotorsports.co.uk/
Mutley00
Try Fouldsy at Honley as he's a bit nearer you, but I doubt he'll be as cheap as Gav. He's 10 mins walk from Honley train station so I catch the train home when I leave my car with him. http://www.fouldsmotors.co.uk/servicing.html
un1eash
Ollie at Phoenix Motorsports, Accrington, is the man. http://phoenixmotorsports.co.uk/ Ollie did the headgasket on my old 111s before I bought it. I had no issues for the 4 years I had it.
peter2704
does it always need a skim? I can understand if its boiled or got very hot.I think mine is very early stages, hence why I want to catch it now
Alex B
does it always need a skim? I can understand if its boiled or got very hot.I think mine is very early stages, hence why I want to catch it now I'd say yes just to be safe. It's better to spend the extra now rather than re do the whole lot in the near future.
AlanS1
You can have it checked for straightness then if required skim it. I believe there is a limit to how many times or max amount that can be skimmed off these heads.
