Insurance Delight?

Anyone been delighted (or ******* annoyed) with their insurance quote recently?

My Evora renewal came through last week and the cheeky ******* were asking for a 21% premium hike!  And I have full NCD, no claims at all, clean licence, and full IAM membership!

Needless to say I haven't accepted.  But, after a couple a hours trawling the entire world wide web for a better quote, I got one for 11% less than their renewal price.  Job done :-)).

PS Adrian Flux were bloody useless, even after a very lengthy 'phone call, and confirmation of my MLOC membership!!!!  Not sure why they're on MLOC at all.

Got mine for the elise... it increased by 15%... and the mileage was decreased from 10k to 5 due to agreed value... if i was to keep 10k the agreed value would not work and the premium would be 50% higher.

I asked why as i had descent premium for several years... they explained that several younger driver wanting cheaper premium £300 something and claimed a lot (120% of the insurance premium taking) and they are loosing money.

When i was under 30's I had to pay over £700 premium 10years ago but it seems nowaday, these rules don't apply... i can see more company like cci refusing to insure under 40's soon...

CCI have dropped the over 40 rule as I've just insured my elise with them.

ManningUK wanted 1190 for my renewal £200 more than last year. 7k miles unlimited trackdays

CCI came in at £513 8k miles 6 trackdays

One Answer came in at £605 6kmiles 6 trackdays but an agree value.

Hi,

I;m sorry to here about your experience with ourselves. Can I ask was it just the premium was un-competitive or was it how then call was dealt with?

Regards,

Dan.

If you advertise on a specialist club's site, then there is an implicit assumption that you can offer something special (i.e. highly competitive) for that particular niche group.

I also took the advice given on YOUR site....

"75% of customers could get a cheaper quote over the phone*

....and so spent a significant amount of time on the phone providing all of the requested information.

Then, right at the end, when I was asked what policy and associated premium that I'd found, I was simply told "we can't get anywhere near that".  And that was that.

As I said earlier... bloody useless.

I am going to repeat myself, but net time really try Classicline, they are the cheapest for me, by far, and still a proper and local insurrance. Paid the same price for the v6 than for the 260 s2 before, and I think free cover for Lotus trackdays.

I went through all the usual questions with Adrian Flux earlier in the year and right at the end i asked about their policy cover for track days and was bluntly told "we don't cover track days".

I am with Manning UK and have been for a few years and have found them very good so far.

Had same experiences with both companies.

Although manningUK couldn't compete the price this year.

The agent Micheal said it was due to a high number of claims on lotus policies

I apologize that we could not find a price that was suitable for you. Different insurers are better for different people. If we were competitive every time we'd be the only ones in the industry.

Kind Regards

Dan

I can't speak highly enough about Footman James who no one else seems to mention. Apparently they have changed their panel of insurers and are as knowledgeable and competitive as they were years ago when specialist Classic Insurers were really taking off.

£360 for all 3 Elises with agreed value and (Dan please take note!) you don't get the impression that you have been responsible for a tree chopping down for your paperwork and their salespeople never ask how many seats an Elise has.

Footman James aren't very good for "younger" drivers or at least that's been my experience. I do believe they are part of the same company as CCI as CCI's hold music is a footman James advert.
